BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (October 6, 2016) – The LSU-Florida football game scheduled for Saturday in Gainesville has been postponed due to Hurricane Matthew, it was announced Thursday. The universities and the SEC Office will work to reschedule the game later in the 2016 season if possible.

“We had a very productive phone call today with a great spirit of cooperation between the universities’ presidents and athletics directors and it became clear that the University of Florida could neither host nor travel to a game this weekend considering the circumstances,” said SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey. “The developments of the hurricane in the last 24 hours, the projected magnitude of its impact and the unknown aftermath of this storm have resulted in this decision to seek another date to play the LSU-Florida game. We have to be sensitive to the possible imminent disruption to the state of Florida and in particular the Gainesville and surrounding area.”

At this time the schools do not have a common open date on which to reschedule the game, so the schools and SEC Office will make every effort to find a scheduling solution with the possible movement of other games on the schools’ schedules. Read more.

Sankey and the SEC can go f--k themselves. Their solution is have LSU cancel a game with a non conference opponent and play in November 19th and then turn around and play A&M on Thanksgiving Day in a damn stupid game the SEC wanted LSU to play in to accomodate the damn Aggies. I just wish the SEC gave as much consideration to LSU and our scheduling as it seems to about everone else. It is absolute crap.

You expect FLA to just show up somewhere else and play a football game while their families and homes might be getting crushed by a hurricane?

But as of 2:00 today it was ok for the same fl players to play in Gainesville? Double standard bubba

Ok. Well, why did UF say no to Sunday and Monday? It was OK to tell LSU to come to Gainesville and waste several days while stalling. Look Bud, LSU left after friggin' Katrina and played in Arizona in what was supposed to be an LSU home game and LSU had players with Family members missing and scattered all over the USA and FEMA commandeering LSU facilities for Blackhawk landings and turning The Assembly Center into a Hospital for Evacuees. So don't tell me what LSU should expect. Louisiana knows all about Hurricanes you moron. What a load of crap.

Game will be rescheduled. They just have to work it out with USA and Presbyterian. They can't issue a press release about that until it is worked out.

How can you expect LSU to cancel a home game to play a rescheduled game? Who is going to cover the lost revenue from the gate and concessions and who is going to cover the refunds to ticket and parking holders? That is simple a rediculous idea.

Yeah, let's cancel with South Alabama to play at UF on Saturday and then go play at A&M on Thanksgiving Day after 3 days of preparation. Dumbasses.

Guys lets look at the positives. 1. An extra "bye" week. 2. Chance to get players healthy. 3. Want affect our chances of winning the SEC west. 4. More time to implement more of the offense. 5. Teams would kill to have 2 bye weeks in a year. Negatives: 1. Not watching LSU stomp florida, but are they really a rival?
