14-year old quarterback Zadock Dinkelmann has committed to LSU for the 2018 class. The eighth-grade QB is from Somerset (Texas) Junior High School and is the newphew of former Heisman Trophy winner Ty Detmer. Per ESPN:
quote:

Detmer said Dinkelmann committed to the Tigers on Friday after receiving a scholarship offer from LSU offensive coordinator Cam Cameron. Dinkelmann is the son of Detmer's sister, Dee. Dinkelman's father, Johan Dinkelmann, played at Cincinnati.

"LSU is a top program, and Zadock has liked LSU for a long time," Johan Dinkelmann said. "What kid at his age with dreams and aspirations wouldn't commit to a program like that? It's a tremendous opportunity. It was an opportunity that we, as his parents, wouldn't let him pass up if that's what he wanted."
Dinkelmann is 6-foot-4 and 190 pounds.

For the guys worried about offering a kid so young... There is no risk involved with these kinds of situations. From now on, the kid's parents and coaches will be filling Cam in on the kids status and progress. Cam will give any advice and as long as he develops at a good pace everything will be fine. Any problems will be addressed immediately which will benefit the kid whether or not he becomes a Tiger. On the other hand, if the kid doesn't develop properly then the staff will go cold on him and he won't become a Tiger.

Also, he might become a big name in his class and recruit a player or two for LSU throughout his HS years.

Offering to an 8th grade kid is a bit of a stretch. Hell, they should see the spiral my 7 year old can throw while they are at it.
