The LSU coaching staff received some great news on Monday afternoon when four-star dual-threat quarterback Lowell Narcisse gave his verbal pledge to the Tigers.

LSU now has seven verbal commitments for the class of 2017.

Narcisse, a 6-3, 224-pound prospect from Saint James, LA (Saint James HS) was a one-time Auburn commit but reopened his recruitment back in January.

He is rated as the No. 1 dual-threat QB for 2017 and the No. 2 overall player from the state of Louisiana, according to ESPN Recruiting. The No. 1 recruit in Louisiana is Tyler Shelvin who is already committed to LSU.

Narcisse is LSU's 2nd quarterback to commit in the last 9 days as the Tigers also landed pro-style QB Myles Brennan last Saturday.

Don't let the "dual threat" thing fool you. This kid can spin it. I put him in the same category of other players I've coached against that can single-handedly take over a game: Kevin Faulk, Travis Minor, Warwick Dunn, Brandon Jacobs, Dominick Davis.

I really hope this doesn't effect Brennan's commitment. He's the guy I prefer. Narcisse is more mobile, but we go plenty of guys who can run with the ball in their hands. We need a guy that will make defenses respect our passing game. Brennan provides that. I hope this doesn't turn out to be another Patterson/Franks tabockal.

I meant to say debacle. A lot of people didn't like my comment, and that's fine. I doesn't change my opinion. The style of offense we run is better suited to a pro style QB. Russell, Flynn, and Mett flourished under Cameron. All pro style QBs. Harris showed flashes last season, but when has the last time a Duel Threat made our passing game a threat? That's why our receivers enter the draft early. This isn't a race issue. I'm black. Brennan is a pass first QB. He threw for 3000+ yards as a sophomore. Look at his highlights and tell me that this guy won't greatly improve our passing game. That's my opinion and I have the right to it.

Despite Blake Barnett being changed from dual threat to pro style, he is still a pro style QB. That means Alabama's last 3 QB recruits were dual threat QBs. Blake Sims was a dual threat QB. Hell EJ Manuel and Jameis Winston were dual threats. Do you get where I'm coming from? Just because a dual threat plays in a pro style offense, it doesn't mean he will suck. Evaluation, coaching, and offensive philosophy also come into play

By the way, those measurements are off. At the recent New Orleans Elite 11 camp, he measured 6'2 3/4" and weighed 223 lbs.
