LSU forward Ben Simmons was named SEC player of the week by the league office on Monday. Per SECSports.com:

SEC Freshman of the Week - LSU's Ben Simmons, a 6-foot-10, 240-pound forward from Melbourne, Australia, averaged 18.5 points, 11.0 rebounds and seven assists in wins over Auburn and Mississippi State. With 21 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists against Auburn, Simmons posted his third 20-10-5 game of the season and his 16th double-double. He registered 16 points, nine rebounds, seven assists, two blocks and two steals. His back-to-back seven assist games were the 13th and 14th time he has had five or more assists in a game. It was the 12th game over 20 points this year. On the week he shot 61.5 percent (16-of-26) from the field on the week.
