The Kentucky high school athletics association issued a statement on Tuesday prohibiting all post-game handshake lines in sports such as football, soccer and baseball, among others, due to recent fights and altercations that have occurred following high school sporting event. The statement said...
quote:

“While it is an obvious sign of sportsmanship and civility, many incidents have occurred both in Kentucky (more than two dozen in the last three years in Kentucky alone) and throughout the country, where fights and physical conflicts have broken out,” “And this is not restricted to specific sports. In our state alone, incidents in soccer, football and volleyball have occurred this fall… It is disappointing that this action has become necessary, but enough incidents have occurred both in our state and in others, that the necessity has arrived.”
Is banning the handshake really going to do anything? I don't think so. It's the coaches responsibility to manage his players and teach them sportsmanship.

"Need to get these kids an outlet to physical beat each other in a controlled environment."

You may be just joking, but I read something recently by an anthropologist the lack of an outlet for controlled aggression as a problem in "civilized" societies.

"...governing body is becoming pussified, or more shitty parents are just raising more shitty kids."

We're teaching kids to cut and run from responsibility. Shitty parents and pussified governing bodies are creating shitty, pussified kids.

haha I've been seeing guys take cheapshots in the handshake line since little dribblers league at the YMCA. but I didn't realize it's become such a problem. I think it says a lot about the state of our country. not sure what the message is though, either athletes are becoming worse, or governing body is becoming pussified, or more shitty parents are just raising more shitty kids.
