CBS announcer Gary Danielson loves him some SEC. He believes a 1-loss SEC team should be in the national title game over an undefeated Notre Dame or Kansas State.
quote:

My personal tiebreaker is that a conference championship game has to stand for something. I would penalize Notre Dame for not playing in a conference championship. So after Alabama, my first nod would be to Oregon, since its conference has earned respect, then Kansas State and only then Notre Dame…

You’d have to put (a once-beaten Alabama team) in the discussion, because they’ve earned it given what the conference has accomplished.”

With LSU and Bama dominating the SEC this year it's making for other games in the conference to be not as appealing or exciting to watch, and the TV ratings are showing it. According to the Birmingham News...
quote:

"Through seven games, SEC games on CBS have drawn a 3.3 national household rating, which is down 18 percent from this time in 2010. CBS games this year have been decided by an average of 23 points, up from 15 points through seven games in 2010. Only two CBS games in 2011 have been decided by less than three touchdowns."

Word on the street is CBS may replace Verne Lundquist with Ashton Kutcher.

CBS has announced they've hired the legendary play-by-play announcer Marv Albert. This, of course, will happen when the lockout is lifted. And he will also continue to do TNT NBA games. Marv is great, and honestly I'll take anyone over Dan Dierdorf on CBS who sounds like he's announcing games with a sleeve of Chips Ahoy in his mouth. You like this hire? Talk about it here.
