"We think what we will do on offense will put a charge into the program and give a spike in recruiting," "We want excitement. I want to sell it to the alumni, boosters, players, families, fans and high school coaches. I want to hit the ground running."

Dykes said the combination of California's academic reputation and financial investment to facilities and athletics made it impossible to pass up.

"The Rose Bowl is the standard every team in the league should aim for," Dykes said. "We were a two-overtime game away from playing for it when I was (an assistant) at Arizona."

Former Louisiana Tech basketball and NBA star Karl Malone took to Twitter on Sunday night after news and was not happy...

"I am Bulldog to the core, I am heart broken and embarrassed that our university would do this to Tech Nation. To our football and staff this is exactly what is wrong with our university. Now it's time to get former athletes to run our program. I'm 6"9 and not hard to find. Whoever made this desicision have the balls to tell the guys why. As one alumni of LaTech I want to know why."

The employee apparently tried to cover the whole thing up to make it look like the dog had run away or been mascot-napped. [quote]"Early Wednesday afternoon, Louisiana Tech University learned of the passing of Tech XX through the following communication from Dr. Patrick Sexton... More
