NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that JaMarcus Russell, who ran the 40-yard dash in 5.2 seconds three months ago, is now garnering “significant interest” from “more than one team” around the league after shedding “50 pounds” since starting his latest NFL comeback.

While his potential destination is “kind of a well-kept secret,” Russell wants to go to a team that has a quarterback who is a leader where he can “sit on the bench and learn a little bit,” according to Rapoport.

Rapoport also notes that the 6-6 QB is also “more than open to going to the CFL,” where he has also received a lot of interest. In 31 games (25 starts), Russell, 27, completed 354 of 680 passes (52.1 percent) for 4,083 yards with 18 touchdowns to 23 interceptions during three seasons (2007-09) in Oakland.

It has been confirmed that the draft will be pushed back about two weeks, and will take place May 8-10 in 2014. There is no confirmation about 2015 and beyond. The NFL Scouting Combine will not be pushed back, but for the draft there are talks of holding it in different New York City locations as well as possibly different cities. NFL Free Agency will also remain the same.

Tyrann Mathieu has agreed to signing a four-year $3.052 million contract with the Arizona Cardinals. According to reports, he has already been entered into the NFL’s drug-testing program and could be subject to up to 10 tests per month, according to a source close to the situation. Mathieu’s agent, Pat Lawlor, told Rapoport that “both sides understood the issues we were dealing with.”

As it was reported earlier, Mathieu did receive a portion of his signing bonus up front, $265,000, with the rest coming to him over the remaining three years — granted he doesn’t fail a drug test.
