Four Alabama freshman – Eddie Williams, Dennis Pettway, Tyler Hayes and Brent Calloway – were reportedly arrested Monday and charged with second degree robbery and fraudulent use of a credit card. The story hasn’t hit the papers yet, but Bama Hammer was the first to notice the arrests on the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office website.

According to the website, Williams (a defensive back) was charged with FRAUDULENT USE CREDIT/DEBIT CARD and ROBBERY 2ND; Pettway (a defensive lineman) was charged with ROBBERY 2ND; Hayes (a linebacker) was charged with ROBBERY 2ND; and Calloway, the arrest most people will talk about, was charged with FRAUDULENT USE CREDIT/DEBIT CARD.

UPDATE...

Here’s a description from the University of Alabama police department.
quote:

"According to the department, two UA students reported that they were robbed by two men on campus.

Both said that they were approached by the men who asked to borrow a cigarette lighter, before striking them in the head, stealing their belongings and leaving in a dark-colored SUV, according to the UAPD.

The first victim said that the robbery took place at 12:35 a.m. in the 800 block of Campus Drive. The second student was robbed at 1:20 a.m. in the 200 block of Seventh Avenue.

Both students told police that one robber had a dark complexion, a slim build and was around 6 feet to six feet, two inches tall. He was wearing a black wind suit and a red, beanie-style hat and possibly had dreadlocks. The second suspect had a medium to dark complexion, a stocky build, was of average height and was wearing blue jeans and a rain coat."
According to the Tuscaloosa News, players then used a stolen credit card, to get snacks from a campus vending machine.

Reuben Foster, a 6-foot-2, 230-pound 5-star linebacker announced Monday night that he now plans to attend recently-crowned national champion Alabama. He had previously verbally committed to Alabama two years ago, decommitted last July, gave a verbal to Auburn, and then made a second decommitment in December when former head coach Gene Chizik was fired along with his lead recruiter, Trooper Taylor. The interesting part of this story is that Foster has a tattoo of Auburn, Alabama’s SEC rival, on his forearm. Foster tweeted in December that he is choosing to keep the tattoo, in remembrance of Auburn player Ladarious Phillips who was killed during a shooting off-campus last summer.

The company that says it provided deer-antler spray, a product that contains a banned substance, to Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis also sold its goods to members of the 2012 national championship Alabama football team, according to a co-owner of the company.

And Christopher Key, the SWATS co-owner, told ESPN's Joe Schad on Wednesday he personally witnessed about five Alabama players spray what he sold them into their mouths.
quote:

"I showed them how to use it," Key said.
Key said about 20 players purchased the spray at a hotel room in New Orleans leading into the BCS national championship game against LSU. And he said he sold about 20 more bottles to players at the apartment of an Alabama player 10 days before the game. Read more here at ESPN.
