Oklahoma State linebacker's coach Glenn Spencer has left the team after the death of his wife and will not be involved with the team's game this week against Texas A&M. His wifed died during the first quarter of the Cowboys game Saturday night. Head coach Mike Gundy said...
quote:

"We have a very close team and coaches and players that care about each other," Gundy said Sunday. "We were concerned when Glenn left there during the delay.

"She was having a tough time and then when she passed away, it was difficult. There's no question about it. His family's here and they're doing as good as could be expected at this point. We move forward and everybody's thoughts and prayers are with their family.

"It's one of the most impressive things I've ever seen,"... "She's had a really difficult time the last two years, and obviously was fortunate to go through a heart transplant and then have some really good months. And then things (did) not work out after that.""
Coach Spencer and his wife have two teenage sons.

The Oklahoma State vs Tulsa game didn't get kicked off until after midnight last night and finished at 3:35 am Sunday morning with the Cowboys winning 59-33. Ok St.'s outspoken coach Mike Gundy wasn't too pleased with playing that late...
quote:

“I’m not real excited about playing at that time, to be honest with you,”...“I’m going to try to do the best I can to be careful about what I say, but there comes a certain point in the middle of the morning where your body is not used to functioning. Whether young people stay up at night or not, they don’t exert themselves at 2 and 3 in the morning. I had concerns about injuries on both teams; I was really concerned about losing players.

“At some point we have to have some thought put in to the well being of student athletes. I know everybody has to go along with it and we can’t control it; it’s just not the best situation.”
Gundy was already riled up about the original 9:00 kickoff...
quote:

"You can’t control the weather but when you (schedule) to start at 9, you put yourself in that situation,”...“Anything can happen. I just don’t think it’s the best thing in the world to do, I’ll be honest with you.

“(The players) have to go to class on Monday. It’s going to take a couple days to get over an evening like this for all of us. It was very unusual. I’m not sure why we had TV timeouts during the game, to be honest with you. I guess somebody paid for that so we have to, but at some point you have to think, ‘Who’s really watching at 3 in the morning?’

quote:

"We are not doing anything proactively," Scott told reporters before Saturday's Oregon-LSU game. "We've not initiated anything. But schools have called us. And we are certainly going to listen. We always are going to evaluate."
