iPhone app store...any hidden gems? | Posted on Chicken Scratch by Chicken on Jul 30, 2009 at 1:33 pm | | | I find myself looking through the app store and feeling disappointed. Outside of games, which my son enjoys more than me, I am disappointed with the selection. Here are the ones I have an use more than "rarely": Weather Channel (free) CNN Money (free) Google (free) Flight Control (paid) RSoccer09 (paid) Moron Test (paid) And a few math and sight word apps for kids(paid) I used FoxNews.com for news, but it isn't an app. They have a special version for the iphone. So, what gems am I missing. I have AroundMe and UrbanSpoon, but hardly use them. Outside of games, can you recommend some useful apps?

Suggest improvements to the iPhone... | Posted on Chicken Scratch by Chicken on Jul 29, 2009 at 11:12 pm | | | I have been playing with an iPhone for about three weeks now. Nice device, but not exactly email friendly. I have three email accounts set up on the iPhone. There is no shortcut to go to the Accounts home screen. You can set up the double-click of the Home button to take you to several options (I have it set now to take me to my Favorite Contacts), but the email accounts home screen isn't an option. Plus, Apple should take a cue from the Pre...have notifications appear at the bottom of the screen, and not be a pop-up that interrupts what you are doing. Often, while my phone is in the lock mode, I will get a notification, but when I swipe to unlock the phone, the notification disappears. Terrible. In the App Store, you should be able to sort apps...eg, sort by rating. A snooze option on appointment reminders would be nice...like Outlook does...5 minutes before, 10 minutes before, etc. You should be able to change this on the fly. More apps need to be configured for landscape mode. What else?
