his rankings have been "off" a bit every week but now they are getting weird. I have to think the byes are playing havoc with the rankings
quote: measure 6 things to develop the rankings. A perfect team would have 6 power points. The worst team would have 192. For those who don't understand, any team above would currently be favored over any team ranked below them
no you aren't bitter about the rankings themselves, you are bitter that I post them, frankly i don't understand why you post in this thread week after week
and buddy tried to explain them but he got tired of people mindlessly attacking him personally so he gave up
and your idea of what makes me "mad" is way off the mark
quote: and buddy tried to explain them but he got tired of people mindlessly attacking him personally so he gave up
because he made no sense
and this was after, of course, the humble way he introduced it about how he knew more than everyone and hadnt missed an NFL game in 5 years, so dont question it.
if you are going to endorse such a thing and act like it is some amazing break through in ranking teams, at least make sure it makes sense and at least be able to explain and defend if needed.

Once again, for your benefit.
I am not endorsing anything, I am TRACKING his results over the course of a season.
There is no emotion in his ranking.
It is not a poll
The only opinion involved in his ranking is the 6 categories he originally chose to compile his ranking.
There is NO win/loss component to his method.
It is simply a compilation of the team's overall rankings in 6 predetermined categories to try to determine their relative strength to each other.
There was so much bitching about win/loss not being a factor that I created another ranking using SOS as a 7th component to compare them to each other.
I would like for the brighter stats nerds to come up with a variation on this system that takes win/loss into account. That takes home field into account. That can potentially be used against the spread.
So that's it, there is nothing else to it.
FYI Bleacher reports Mid Season NFL Top 10 LINK 10) Giants 9) bengals 8) Eagles 7) Cowboys 6) Steelers 5) Patriots 4) broncos 3) Vikings 2) Saints 1) Colts
This is just an opinion poll. Buddy's rankings have no opinion built in.
For someone new to his rankings, who doesn't know how he does it, what else should I think of it?
I didn't give him shite about it before, never read his explanations, and if he isn't willing to explain it constantly, then don't get all pissy when we call it BS.

i was talking about him endorsing it, not you

which is why it was stupid for one of his first posts to be "i haven't missed an NFL game in 5 years...thats all i do is watch NFL games, my rankings are always right, blah blah blah."
quote: It is simply a compilation of the team's overall rankings in 6 predetermined categories to try to determine their relative strength to each other.
yes, i know what it is. The categories he puts together can be meaningless and misleading, which is what the 1st argument was about on the Saints board.
as the weeks go on and the rankings are updated, i dont see how he can endorse such a thing. They were bad weeks ago, now its borderline horrible.
if that makes me "mad" or "bitter", then so be it. The dude couldn't explain himself the first time, so i doubt he could now.
