Can anyone tell me if there’s a gadget of any sort that would function like an Amazon Echo product that also utilizes FaceTime? We want something for our kitchen that can be used as a video chat device while in the kitchen that also has a screen for utilizing cooking recipes and asking for conversion tables on certain things.

Basically what I’m looking for is a small iPad that has Alexa, although that seems like a way more expensive and cumbersome option. We would just like something that can stay in the kitchen and display the time when not in use. Does something like this exist? I know there are several Echo Show products but haven’t differentiated much between all the different gens and numbers of Echo Shows.

I think some of the larger Echo shows can do Zoom. I know they can call other Echo/Amazon devices. I’ve called my kids kindle fire tablet before just to test it out. Or you can get the Alexa app on any phone and it can call those as well.

FaceTime is Apple. Alexa w/echo has video as well. They are kinda competitors. Apple doesn’t share their products very often for integrations. I haven’t tried it but you might be able to put Alexa app on iPad and use video to a video enabled Amazon device.

I think you are looking for something that doesnt exist. Like the other poster said, FaceTime is Apple and they dont play well with others.

We have an Echo Show and have never had any issue with the video chat function. We've never thought "Man, this would be better if it was FaceTime."

If actual FaceTime is a must have, this may be your only option. You can get a refurbed one on Amazon for pretty cheap though. Seems like a bigger hassle to mess with though.
