We had a World Book, I knew every page, read the dictionary to find good dirty words to use. I used to call a guy at work "Mr. Scatological". he thought it was high praise. Why say "stripper" when you can say "ecdysiast"?

My wife and I live in south Alabama. She says to people "y'all need to come up here and visit us", people from CA, to Vermont to Arkansas and Kansas. I just stopped correcting here after the 10th time. I've done the "which way is south?" test randomly driving and when it wasn't anywhere close, I just said OK, but you tried

Growing up we generally would take the interstate but often we would venture off. I used to love reading the atlas.

Same here. Wife is from South Mississippi/ New Orleans. She's been living here in Central Alabama for decades.
Still says " I'm going to drive up to see mom and dad in Biloxi. "
Further, it is quite comical and frustrating at the same time listening to her try to give directions to another woman.
