I think that Edey is like JV in that he has talent, but isn't a good fit with Zion.

Edey is a post scoring threat, which we don't need when Zion is on the court, because Edey post-ups are likely not going to be better than Zion drives in terms of rim points production, and Zion works best without another big clogging up the paint.

By contrast, a guy like Edey or JV actually is very useful when Zion is off the floor, because then the action in the post can collapse the defense and open up opportunities on the perimeter.

So, drafting Edey only makes sense under two conditions:

- We're looking at him as a backup who comes in to score when Zion is out.

- Instead of playing the switch-everything defense that Willie prefers, we are comfortable playing drop coverage when Edey is on the court.

Honestly, I just don't think that the upside is worth the tradeoffs.

Carter stock is up after the combine. Looks like he's going to go before 21.

Ware is the guy I want. Right under 7’ with a huge reach, somewhat capable of spacing the floor, shot blocker.

Filipowski, Missi, Holmes or Carter would be great gets too imo.

Would definitely take a flyer on him at 21, but I do not think he makes it there.

Mocks I am seeing have Edey, Yves Messi, Ke’el Ware, and Kyle Filipowski all coming off the board around the spot where we are picking.

Who goes where depends on the person doing the mock but the general consensus seems to be that those centers are all around the same tier and likely to be available in the 18-22 range.

Was defense a strength for him? I don’t remember that being the case.
