Not sure its worth it. Brown hasn't hit well enough to justify that sacrifice. I feel like Kling makes that play in center in the 9 running inning that went over Brown's head. Who knows how that inning goes if that first out is made.

He would have had a shot but it was far from routine. Back to home plate in a cross wind on a ball that was crushed. And Brown hasn't hit great but I'm guessing CJJ thinks with some additional ABs, he will.

I’m surprised to see this thread after multiple threads saying we should cut Kling from various posters. If everyone feels that way, which they should not, then let your young bat get the experience needed to move forward.

Btw, that would have been an elite catch no matter who was in center.

I mean it’s probably a R/L matchup thing at this point or if we feel the game will be tight and a few big plays in the outfield will make a huge difference

It wouldn’t have mattered yesterday, but in close games, probably go with Defense….

Kling may have made catch but don't think it is a given. At this point Jay either needs to give Brown 1 more series to hit and then try Ruddell or Mitchell or try one of them this weekend. We need to find a viable cfer for next year or go get one in portal. At this point any at bats given to Kling are just being wasted.

I think the real conversation should be Kling vs Bingham. Neither really hit well. Kling provides better defense, but Bingham has more pop and is more likely to run into one offensively.

Kling also has tons of speed on the bases...if he gets on base.

Brown looks pretty horrible defensively.

Yeah seems like Bingham is the best middle ground there but it is basically flipping a 3 headed coin

Guessing Kling will get another shot tomorrow (next game)

Mrs. Brown’s opinion shouldn’t count.

Bingham wouldn’t have been within 3 steps of that ball and his bat has gone completely cold. Thats why he’s been benched. He cannot be our CF

I was puzzled that Brown started v the A$M lefties.

I think Kling has shown the capability to make an elite catch, he has had a few this year. But with better speed and reaction that Kling possesses it may not have had to be as an elite of a catch that brown made it out to be.

I agree Kling should be starting in center.

Don't forget the diving attempt by Larson a few batters later that he just missed.

Could have been 2 out with one on with zero runs in at that point. It was a game of inches and A&M blew it open in the 5th.

The OF play Sunday was instrumental in allowing 9 runs in that big inning. Let Kling bat 9th and play CF from now on. Find another RF, Pearson maybe. Larson might be better in LF if you want to keep his bat in the lineup

If you look back at their last 16 SEC at bats ( bc that’s all Brown has to go off of) Kling has 4 RBI and Bingham and Brown both have zero. Bingham has struck out 8 times compared to 6 for Kling and 5 for Brown. Brown is the leader in the clubhouse for runner LOB with 4. Kling has the higher OBP of the 3 with Bingham having the lowest. Kling also has more hits, but it’s not enough of a difference to really bring up. The only thing I will say is that Kling absolutely destroyed a couple balls into the wind at Missouri that bring his numbers in the last 16 at bats down.

Granted it’s a smaller sample size, but regardless of all this, there isn’t enough separation to justify sacrificing one of the most important positions in the field. But that is my opinion and why I’m not getting paid and CJJ is.

The only argument at this point imo is Bingham vs Kling. Do you give Bingham a chance to bust out of his slump and sacrifice some speed and defense. Bingham faired ok during the tough part of our SEC schedule so there is nothing to say he can’t break through.

I ultimately think Bingham gets the next shot, bc Jay has shown in the past to value offense more than defense. Overall he has had the better season at the plate. But Brown being in vs Kling so far has been a downgrade in all areas. I understand Brown needs more at bats and experience but we are trying to get into a regional at this point. That ship has sailed.

Kling takes more patient at bats than Bingham and sees more pitches.

I didn't take note of how Brown does in that regard this weekend.

But from a Kling v Bingham debate, the defense and extra pitches seen is enough for me to lean toward Kling.

The thing is, Kling has the best OB% of all 3 CF options whether you are talking SEC only or for the whole season. I haven't figured it up, but I also think he's the highest if you just calculate since April 1st.

SEC only
.298 Kling
.284 Bingham
.263 Brown

All Games
.399 Kling
.394 Brown
.384 Bingham
