re: What’s the wildest thing you’ve even seen in person
Posted by andouille on 5/22/24 at 7:33 pm
I had been to lunch with a friend at Bon Ton on Poydras St., we were walking back to the office talking football. I stopped for traffic on St. Charles, he took a step in front of a van and was hit. Lucky SOB was knocked about 25' down St. Charles, he got up cursing because his suit pants were torn, ...
re: So are we keeping Jay Johnson now or are we firing him?
Posted by andouille on 5/22/24 at 6:47 pm
I'm an old dude, so I tend to hang around with my age group. Never once this year did I hear anyone in the group say a single negative word about JJ, old guys have patience and know what it takes to win. Jay Johnson has it. ...

re: Why are people so bad at maps and geography?
We didnt have a tv growing up. Encyclopedias and maps were my entertainment when I wasnt out playing ball.
We had a World Book, I knew every page, read the dictionary to find good dirty words to use. I used to call a guy at work "Mr. Scatological". he thought it was high praise. Wh...
re: Louisiana Congressman Garret Graves undecided on which district he’ll seek reelection
Posted by andouille on 5/18/24 at 3:05 pm
Graves should wait to take on Cassidy, he will be a Senator if he does. I have met a lot of politicians in my life, the two most impressive were Bennett Johnson and Garrett Graves. Graves was responsible for our area receiving a lot of federal funds after the 2016 flood, at his request, he was never...
re: What’s the boards opinion on the term “gaslighting”
Posted by andouille on 5/18/24 at 1:51 pm
"Gaslight" is right up there with "narcissist" or "toxic", overused and mostly incorrectly used by drama queens. ...
re: Pan Am Flight 759 Crash
Posted by andouille on 5/18/24 at 1:43 pm
I worked about a half mile from the crash site, it was pouring down rain and very windy, I was setting up a safety party for employees. I don't remember if it was still raining when we heard a loud sustained noise, like thunder rumbling along, but different. We went out and could see all the smoke b...
re: What defunct brand from classic NOLA is ripe for a relaunch to make a billion?
Posted by andouille on 5/13/24 at 11:35 am
Dixie Beer
Been there, a relaunch hasn't worked yet. The problem is that for about the last 40 years, Dixie has been more of nostalgia brand than good beer. And the boomers who enjoyed the nostalgia is a fading market. ...
re: Are boat launches some of the most comical places on earth?
Posted by andouille on 5/7/24 at 10:52 pm
My buddy and I would bring a couple of 6 packs, 2 lawn chairs and sunscreen to sit at the Bonnabel Blvd boat launch. Some people have the gene, no problem, some people don't. I was lucky, my first time, flawless, my wife is better than me, you better have that bow line, she's quick. I told her she s...

re: Slot machines are sad to me...
Posted by andouille on 5/7/24 at 9:40 am
Sad isn't the word, maybe pathetic. Gambling is like a tax for being poor at math. Anytime I hear a liberal espouse the virtues of their cause I ask "explain gov't backed gambling". The slippery slope was greased by oily Democrats (EWE and his slimy ilk) to rake in more money to buy the votes of th...

re: Federal judges strike down La. congressional map with second Black-majority district
Posted by andouille on 4/30/24 at 7:26 pm
Jeff Landry's bastardization of the congressional map was never going to fly. He wanted to accomplish the screwing of Garrett Graves, splitting EBR into four districts ( he hates BR) and getting the feds off his back. He achieved none of these goals.
Conservatives who think Landry is "their man...
re: To everyone in Pisco's dementia thread
Posted by andouille on 4/30/24 at 4:05 pm
My BIL, who has been a close friend for decades, now has been institutionalized with Alzheimer's. He was a brilliant, politically important man, who was admired by many. He was an avid hunter, I presumed his hearing loss over the years, was from gunshot noise.
I am 74 with tinnitus for decades, ...
re: Mike Johnson — I believe I did the right thing.
Posted by andouille on 4/21/24 at 1:20 pm
I remember when conservatives were the voice of reasoning and intelligence, didn't just parrot the leader of a cult. In general, I am against foreign aid, except when it directly supports American interests. Mike Johnson was against this bill until he was shown the intelligence reports and wa...
