I see lots of replies about trolling motors …. The boat in question is 32’
Had a Rhodan on a 33ft CC. It worked pretty well. They make some very large trolling motors these days ...

I would never get a windless unless MAYBE I lived in Florida.
I don’t think I ever even carried an anchor on our contender
But if you’re a big sand bar kinda guy then go for it. That being said if you’d only be using it a handful of times a year, I would just go with old school anchor an...

I’m normally pretty cheap (compared to a marine shop) on labor since it’s all people I know and I just do it on the side. Would probably be a lot more expensive if an actual marine shop was doing the work. Not that they rip people off or anything, just no real overhead for me and it’s more of a hob...
also, shearwater's vendor was surprisingly very helpful when I needed new plates for the console. just fwiw.
Preciate it, but I have a CNC and cut all my panels myself. Can even get fancy with reverse engraving/backlighting too now lol....

Not sure how they get rid of the diamond deck pattern, I’m not really a fiberglass guy. but man I hate that stuff.
This one just has regular floor with spray on nonskid thank god...

Yeah I feel like even with the weld mount stuff it can still be hit or miss sometimes. I’ve never had great luck using adhesive zip tie mounts, so I try to avoid using them if at all possible. Even if you get a good bond, sometimes it just flakes off whatever surface it’s adhered too. Almost have to...

I try to avoid using adhesive to hang zip tie mounts. Prefer to use 316SS screws.
But in the cases I do have to use adhesive, Weldmount adhesive/hangers is my go to. Just sometimes hard to find the adhesive in stock. Prep is fairly typical, remove any loose surface paint/contaminants and rough up...

Yep. Already pulled forward floor as well, just no pictures. It’s a poly tank and it’s still in good shape so that will stay. Just need to pump out the fuel that’s been sitting in it for the past few years.
Replacing fuel lines while it’s all taken apart. Hard not to just do them regardless of co...
Shearwater 25LTZ rebuild thread
Posted by CP3 on 5/20/24 at 12:34 pm
Recently started a complete rebuild on a buddy’s 25ft Shearwater. Figured I’d share the rebuild progress since people seemed to enjoy my contender rebuild thread. Will try to update as I make progress.
Boat used to be charter boat and then sat for a few years, so it needs a good bit of work to b...

I towed a 31ft contender from Kenner to Venice with an F150 and survived.
Would not recommend though lol. Going up bridge was scary, going down bridge was even scarier ...

re: Anyone on here ever refreshed their gel coat?
Posted by CP3 on 5/5/24 at 5:38 pm
We had our boat sanded and painted with Awlgrip. Maybe not as “tough” as gelcoat, but it was 1000000 times easier to keep clean. And looked brand new with just a quick spray down. ...

We just use the banax with rod combo from frigate sales for most stuff. Grouper, snapper, tiles..works great and they’re local and pretty easy to deal with if it needs to get worked on.
Fun fact they’re also great for black fin lol. We regularly put a diamond jig on it with blinky light at night ...

Pretty standard for them to do all the work getting fish on and then handing rod to customer to catch. You have to realize that a large percentage of their customers are idiots and will just create a cluster frick if they let them set lines, etc.
