re: Minn Kota vs Motor Guide Trolling Motors
Posted by Tigah D on 5/5/24 at 6:18 pm
Terrova appears to be wildly popular. Buddy who works on them recommended it over the Ulterra, citing the deployment system on that one being less than reliable.
Have a new Terrova myself, and so far very impressed. Have been a MK fan for 30 years, quality never seemed problematic and had good e...

Would recommend at least the 200 and probably more if you're going to have some people on board and want to do watersports, towing tubes, etc.
The standard 200 yamaha being an in-line 4 cyl just doesn't have the oomph that the V6 versions do. A 225 SHO or 250 would be ideal on that boat.

Dealers usually dont have trailers for you to buy (though that would probably be lucrative), so plan to bring your own. Get vehicle specs off the net to ensure you buy trailer of right size ahead of time.
Have used ProPull and Mike Geralds here in the BR area, pretty similar trailers of comparab...
re: What are the odds that the LA inspection sticker requirement is removed?
Posted by Tigah D on 3/27/24 at 11:59 am
Looked at, lets say, 10 cars in passing as I went into a restaurant the other day. Something like 6-7 of them were out of compliance with this current law, either being expired (in some cases, by more than a year!), or just no sticker at all/damaged sticker that wasn't legible.
Plainly, no one c...
re: Mosaic applying to expand their phosphogypsum storage in La -The Advocate has agenda

Saw the headline on the paper and told my wife this was a huge piece of sensationalist crap. They're following protocols and permitting processes with LDEQ, but The Advocate doing all it can to sound alarms for no good reason.
I work in this realm, the permitting process is there for a reason. I...

re: Nautic Star Boats

The 24 footer is A LOT of boat compared to even their 22 footer. It's a deeper entry, heavier, etc.
Saw that someone else attested to the ride of the 22 footer and their notes are same as mine on that boat, I genuinely miss that hull now having owned two other bay boats in relatively same size r...
re: Does it bother anyone else that no one shakes hands during the offering of peace at mass?

I'm afraid that may be changed forever, it's a shame. But not surprising given so many relish living in fear, thus the excuse they're still wearing masks. ...

Have had two: a 2010?? 19 footer then a 2013 22 footer
Solid no frills boat, does most things pretty well. The 22 ran plenty dry, very stable side to side (224 XTS at the time, now I think that's a 227XTS).
Fit and finish was "decent" but known to have a lot of quality issues with minor thing...

Go with the Strongmade stuff, it's made in Louisiana and usually the gold standard on ATVs. Had front and rear racks from them, plus stick stoppers on my '07 Foreman. ...

Absolutely, me too, except for when it's too deep. Adding a t-motor this spring, but got away without one for long time with just the two poles. ...
re: Raptors vs Power pole

Have had a few power poles (all Blades) and now running a pair of 8 ft Raptors. Very similar performance, Raptor is built a little heavier duty, and seems to dig in on its own a bit better. Also adjusts as tide rises on you. No problems so far.
PP customer service is outstanding, have had good l...

Riceland's teal call, and my cracked, old Haydel's DR-85, plus Haydel's 6-in-1 whistle. Could get by with only the latter two if I had to. ...

re: Anyone ever been to Nicaragua teal hunting?

A buddy teal hunted in Nicaragua once but that's been well over ten years now so no idea what it's like now. They stacked a ton of teal and gave them to the locals, and he came back in one piece without a ransom. ...
re: Duck Shot Shells
Posted by Tigah D on 12/19/23 at 8:38 am
Some will struggle to accept it, but you CAN kill ducks with shells smaller than 3.5 inches. Get you some 2 3/4 inch #3's or something and go hunt.
If it's a really old gun, make sure its barrel is rated for steel shot, bc if it isn't you might need to spring for a softer shot type (and more $$$...
