re: Just got a bidet
Posted by South Shore Cyclist on 5/22/24 at 8:02 am
Those new flusable wet wipes they have now have been game changers.
We live in an older house. Can’t use anything higher than single-ply, or Roto-Rooter is reaming out our pipes. Flushable wipes would likely pay his boat bill.
I recommend a combo of Bum Gun and toilet-seat bidet...
re: Tell me about Raleigh/Durham
Posted by South Shore Cyclist on 5/21/24 at 10:30 am
I can’t speak to the city, but I’ve flown into their airport several times, and love it. My very first visit there, my sibling was on time to pick me up, and I was frustrated because I wanted more time to explore the concourse. Every other shop seemed to be a bookstore. At least four bookstores, and...
Jed's, Jimmy's, Tipitina's, Deja Vu, the Dream Palace and upstairs at Andy Capp's were our spots to see live music
These plus the Maple Leaf Bar. Occasionally hit the gay bars with my queer friends before the plague decimated that scene....
If you are up to a 20 mile drive Nepenthe in Big Sur is a fantastic option for what you describe
I second this! Visited there many years ago while driving down Highway 1. Stunning views! Had a funky/hippy vibe at the time. Still recall my dinner there with great pleasure....
re: Suggestions for a date on the Northshore
Posted by South Shore Cyclist on 5/18/24 at 1:21 pm
For a first date guaranteed to lead to a second date, take her to Palmetto’s on the Bayou in Slidell. (Bring bug spray.) The Grand Theater Slidell is not far from there, if there’s a decent date movie in the offerings. Not familiar with Slidell nightlife, but there should be some decent bars in Old ...

There’s a nature preserve in Lacombe that might be a good choice, if you end up meeting her kid. Was there not long ago when the camellias were blooming. Some pleasant walks, a guided ranger tour, fun kid-friendly activities, and a solid museum/nature-center at the visitor center. Good luck!

re: Why do people always blame the victim when things happen?
Posted by South Shore Cyclist on 5/17/24 at 3:26 pm
Your wife needs to report these two sociopaths to the authorities for animal abuse.
You need to keep her away from her family. Dysfunctional doesn’t begin to describe it. As she begins to experience healthy family dynamics, she will be able to see more clearly who’s at fault here. Therapy will h...
re: I drove through the state of Alabama yesterday
Posted by South Shore Cyclist on 5/13/24 at 10:31 pm
Driving north from Mobile to Montgomery is one of the worst FM radio dead zones that I’ve ever encountered. That’s my prime complaint about driving in the state. Bonus: Their Welcome Centers are attractive, and staffed with people whose drawls will put you in mind of dripping syrup. Sweet!...
re: Is the OT currently pro or anti-cat?
Posted by South Shore Cyclist on 5/13/24 at 10:19 pm
We like both, but I prefer a pet that can be left on its on when we go out of town. That pet is a cat. (Of course, ours is still pissed off at us because we were gone for a few days recently.)...
re: Is Shreveport Regional the worst airport in the world?
Posted by South Shore Cyclist on 5/13/24 at 9:40 pm
Alexandria is a shittier city and has a better airport. Sad!
Alexandria also has all of those highway arteries and bypasses with no traffic on them to speak of, ever, when I’ve driven through there. Did someone’s in-law get the concrete contract for that boondoggle or what? Send all th...
Columbus, Ohio recommendations
Posted by South Shore Cyclist on 5/1/24 at 2:30 pm
Going to be in Columbus soon for a family visit. Anyone have good tips for restaurants or attractions? My partner’s family tends to be fairly basic, meat and potatoes kind of people.
Also, thanks to all who responded to my request for info about Las Vegas. We ultimately bowed out, as I realized ...

Have her committed to a psychiatric hospital with a unit specifically for children and adolescents. She will be cared for round the clock by staff who are trained to deal with manipulative behavior. She will participate in group sessions led by social workers, and individual therapy with her psychia...

re: What was the reason you didn’t marry the person you thought you were going to?
Posted by South Shore Cyclist on 4/10/24 at 3:12 pm
College sweethearts. After graduation, I realized that I did not want to live the rest of my life in that college town. It was their hometown; parents and siblings have all built their lives there, as did my former love. I moved back to my hometown, and have enjoyed my life here. We are both happy w...
re: 30 A - Spring Break

I agree, but it appears that 30A has other, perhaps more serious issues than the spring breakers. In my research, I came across references to a court case that was recently decided there, limiting public access to the beach. Some of the public access walkways to the beach are slated for closure, if ...
