re: Honest question to all bashing brown…
Posted by hayden7cub on 6/4/24 at 10:35 am
I’ll chime in on this. Played D1 and played all three outfield positions but mainly center. I thought it was the easiest by far and that right field was the hardest because of the angle of the batter and the way balls from right handed hitters tailed towards the line.
Errors happen and you just ...

re: Need an actual hitting coach...
Posted by hayden7cub on 6/2/24 at 12:38 pm
All of our hitters have their own hitting instructors. JJ and his staff may work on approach, situations, etc but as far as technique, players rely on their own instructors. Also, the best hitting instructors are not going to leave the facilities they’ve built and the money they’re making to go coac...
re: Unbelievable pain after 2 micro discectomy surgeries in last 6 weeks
Posted by hayden7cub on 5/29/24 at 7:40 pm
I’ve had 2 micro Ds - L5 in 2007 and L4 and 5 in 2014. Walked out with immediate relief both times and I’m pretty full tilt on yard work and golf. Something definitely isn’t right. Who did the procedure?...

Was a member back in the day and I’ll go hit balls there every now and then. Although I’ve never been to Somalia, the neighborhood around that area gives me that vibe. ...
re: The SEC Ump & SEC Nation Guys

My whole issue is if it’s a judgement call, which it is, why are they talking to anyone other than between themselves. With the headphones on, it brings into question who they are talking to and is that person watching on video. It wasn’t a reviewable call. ...

re: Does that put LSU in the Regionals?

Very few want LSU in their regional at this point. With the two pitchers they have, a deep run is not out of the question. ...
re: First baseman had wrong foot on the bag restricting his ability to stretch for the throw
Posted by hayden7cub on 5/12/24 at 1:24 pm
I played D1, 1Band coached D1, infielders but don’t take my word for it. Go find yourself a glove and do it your way - step across with you glove hand and stretch across as far as you can, and then use the entire bag and use the other foot to stretch in the same direction, which I described. You pic...
re: First baseman had wrong foot on the bag restricting his ability to stretch for the throw
Posted by hayden7cub on 5/11/24 at 6:39 pm
Playing 1B with only one foot is incorrect. First basemen should be able to use both feet and actually shift to use the entire bag - left side and right side. And, you can cover more area using both feet. Jones also commits before the ball is in the air and that’s an issue. ...

re: Schlossnagle >>>>>>>> Johnson with the shifts
Posted by hayden7cub on 5/4/24 at 11:34 am
The Milam play was more on Jones and so was the throw into the dugout. He stretches out too soon and commits to one direction to receive throws and then he’s stuck there. He’s a butcher at 1B but there’s really no other place to play him.
In general, the shift is an educated guess based on hitti...
re: Who is coaching these hitters?
Posted by hayden7cub on 4/20/24 at 10:03 pm
Depends on what exactly are you asking. If it’s about game situational approach and maybe a few tweaks here and there then that would be the LSU coaching staff. If you’re asking about overall technique, style, etc then that would be each player’s hitting instructor and they all have them. I think th...
re: Little known but very telling baseball statistics
Posted by hayden7cub on 4/15/24 at 12:36 pm
Totally agree with the poor approach but not with the lack of discipline. LSU’s hitters are constantly having to hit with two strikes and they get into that situations because they take way too many pitches. In other words, too disciplined. Statistically, the odds of a hitter being successful go dow...
