re: Are bullheads good to eat?

They are great eating when caught from moving freshwater sources. I’m not a fan of catfish from ponds though. ...
I just checked through their app, it’s listed in the weekly ad. That’s the best price I’ve seen on prime brisket in a while. Nice looking out op....
Thanks, completely forgot about that feature. disregard above comment....
We need a subscribe button/feature for threads like these. Will be following for sure. ...
Go to YouTube and lookup Tommy Vidrine’s YouTube channel and scroll to the videos from before Hurricane Ida which was before he moved to the Mississippi gulf coast. He has a lot of really specific location and “how to” videos specific to Grand Isle. Very helpful if you are new to fishing the area....
On the half shell is delicious. The meat will come away from the shell quite easily with a spatula. Shells stay on the foil or pan. ...
Don’t buy tackle on the island unless absolutely necessary. It will be marked up 50 percent higher than buying from home or more if online. Jo-Bobs definitely for lunch. It’s just a gas station but it’s good and cheap. Star fish is good for casual full service restaurant. Just use common se...
I am also on the keep it simple team. If it’s fresh caught then it’s just your job not to mess it up. Season the way you like. On the grill preferably but oven works too Baste with melted butter and lemon juice. Pull when it starts to flake easily with a fork. Most importantly, don’t ov...
Guys op hasn’t even said what type of boat they are looking at other than 17 ft cc. Could just be a little aluminum skiff or jon boat. In which case the numbers would be way more manageable. A far cry from offshore type boats. ...
What kind of fishing and/or boating will this boat be used for 90% of the time? Freshwater fishing? Saltwater? Marsh or open water? Pleasure cruising? How many people will normally be aboard? Answer these questions and you can get better advice here as there are many different types of boats...

Plenty of 17 ft boats being used. Keep in mind that often times simpler is better for boats. The more cool gadgets and options a boat has, is just more stuff that can and will break. A small boat of that size shouldn’t be too bad on yearly expenses if you have somewhere to store it. Otherwise...
Lots of good ways to fry fish. Main thing is to not overcook them. I am not a big fan of Louisiana blue bag. Too heavy on the corn meal for my preference. Having said that I will gladly eat some and enjoy it if someone is cooking. I like to cut the fish in slender strips or small nuggets. Co...
Jack Crevalle was the best I’ve seen in person. Fishing the marsh North of Grand Isle. Buddy sight casts at what he thought was some bull redfish cruising by at the edge of our casting range. Well he realizes mid cast that it was a pack of jack crevalle. After the lure lands he starts reeling in ...

Best fish to catch on Topwater

Posted by Mister Bigfish on 5/13/24 at 5:30 pm
Like most every fisherman out there, I love to catch fish on topwater. When I retire and hopefully do some more traveling I would like to go after some of the hardest hitting species for topwater action I can find as I travel the world. Giant Trevally looks like the best I’ve seen on video. May...
