I think its a great methodology for 99.9% of people, especially today, especially in Louisiana....
I prefer to be sub 24. My joints and back feel better in that range. I have more energy and feel youthful again in that range (I’m 49). I tend to have far fewer training injuries as well.
re: 11 yo son started lifting in gym.
Posted by NOLALGD on 5/13/24 at 2:04 pm
My only observation is instead of a bodybuilding style workout I would focus on mastering the traditional full body/compound lifts. Also I don't mean mastering like many/most middle-aged novice lifters do in the gym, I mean focusing on form first on every single rep.
I think lifting is great f...
re: Why so many backpacks in the gym?
Posted by NOLALGD on 5/12/24 at 10:38 pm
I don't have a problem with gym bags, I have a very small one I use. I agree with you, I don't get carrying it with you everywhere in the gym, when I went to large gyms I left the bag in a locker and carried a water bottle and occasionally a towel. I think some people do it to claim equipment/benc...
re: Thunder start Hack-a-shack and leads to a loss

Its not just about the offensive end, sometimes the goal is the force the player to the bench which affects the teams defensive strategy. and it worked. The one defensive possession Lively was on the bench OKC scored after getting 3 offensive rebounds.

re: friday afternoon and night/saturday day New York City
Posted by NOLALGD on 5/6/24 at 2:50 pm
Food/drink in NYC is the easier part to figure out since there are abundant food options in most neighborhoods that tourist visit. Pick the things you want to see/do, then figure out food and drink.
With 24 hours for a first trip I would do some combo of: Staten Island ferry (there and back) to ...
Because I’m afraid flight from KC to Dallas might get delayed. If it is we are screwed for our flight to Barcelona
Make sure both the agent at both bag check and the gate know about Dallas connection. Short of a horrible delay they will make sure you make your connection. ...
re: Cancun Trip Recommendations

Sometimes this board gives recs from the perspective of people who travel frequently and visit places multiple times so it easy to say relax here for a week in one city and don't overdue it. Not always a fan of that type of advice, but.....
You are staying at one of the nicest, and more expensiv...

Before buying a new bag go to Will My Bag Fit to see if it will work. Site isn't perfect, but really accurate.

re: Louisiana congressional map creating new majority-Black district ruled unconstitutional
There’s a map on page two of this thread that complies with federal court rulings.
Why is that not the map? It can’t be because that map jeopardizes Letlow’s seat (our most junior representative) instead of Graves’ seat (who Jeff Landry doesn’t like) can it?
Will add if the legi...

According to his argument any man that likes sex is gay, regardless if they are having sex with men or women? Bold statement....
re: NIL allows for unlimited roster sizes
Posted by NOLALGD on 4/25/24 at 9:58 am
Even if a school had a $1 billion NIL budget I doubt there are too many kids who want to play professionally that are willing to be 3rd string just for a paycheck.
Anecdotal evidence today shows that highly recruited players who aren't guaranteed playing time almost immediately are very likely ...

Pretty much, with less black riders since a lot of those ladies ride in Femme Fatale now.

re: NYC trip -tour outer boroughs
Posted by NOLALGD on 4/22/24 at 4:55 pm
What is your goal for a tour, to see as much as you can in one day, to visit 3-4 unique/historic site or neighborhoods, or somewhere in between? I ask because NYC is (obviously) a huge city, but there are cool/unique/fun/interesting places in many of the literally hundreds of neighborhoods spread ac...
re: Europeans in the NBA: who opened the door?
Posted by NOLALGD on 4/17/24 at 10:56 am
Dražen Petrovic and Šarunas Marciulionis. Both were tough guys that could play.
The consensus on European players at the time was many had decent basketball skills, but couldn't handle the speed and physicality of the NBA, couldn't keep up on defense, and couldn't get off shots against NBA defend...
re: Can high speed rail work in the United States?
Posted by NOLALGD on 4/16/24 at 9:47 am
Good point. These threads always go a little crazy but there are many areas of the country should have regional fast rail service, between 80-120 mph service. The goal is to connect metro areas, not get you from CA to NY in 12 hours.
The cross country train market will always be a niche marke...
re: Can high speed rail work in the United States?
Posted by NOLALGD on 4/15/24 at 5:18 pm
Time to gate is only part of the story, outside of travel time the train experience is significantly easier.
I generally walk in the station 10-15 minutes before the train leaves, which is impossible to do when flying. Also never had to gate check a bag on the train.
And maybe the biggest a...
This may be true for larger stations like NYC, but catching the train in Boston or DC isn't nearly as inconvenient as a major Airport.
Penn Station is the most complicated train station I've been in the US and would take that everyday of the week over any airport in a large US city...
