Washington DC to Houston about ten years ago. Apparently it is around 1,400 miles. I was exhausted by the time I reached Texarkana but, stupidly, I kept going. My vision was literally foggy I arrived.

I don't think there is a ferry to Pelican Island. The Bolivar Ferry goes right by it, but I don't think it stops.
