Here for two days. Awesome experience, wish we had more time here but we are off to an island tomorrow. Great people, food, and wine. Opa!.

Loved our time in Athens. We had 3 nights, 2.5 days and it was perfect.

What island(s) are you heading to?

We are headed to Crete. It’s not the most popular but looks good for us. Big island, with lots of coastline, urban areas, and archeological sites.

Definitely have to come back!

Any suggestions for Athens? Wife's cousin is getting married in September on one of the islands, and we are going to do two nights in Athens as well.

We bought tickets to Acropolis in advance. Definitely recommend this. There is a ticket for multiple sites you can get online in advance. The only bad thing for this ticket is it doesn’t get you into Acropolis museum which is awesome. It gets you access to other sights but for 2 days it is tough to see everything. First day is fighting off sleep from inbound flight.

Explore and have fun!

Try the dinner with wine pairing at Titakis winery if you can get it. It was a great experience.

Parthenon is must. Either go super early- we were second in line- or go late in the evening.

Middle of the day is crazy packed and hot. Acropolis museum is also very nice.

Plenty of other ruins all over town, after a while they all look the same. I would go see the Temple of Hephaestus as it is the best preserved.

Stroll the neighborhoods- Plaka is the most popular. Each evening we would walk through the neighborhoods filled with people eating outside. We enjoyed the Old Tavern of Psarras and Kosmikon for dinner.

Monastiraki square is a busy area in the heart of town. We had lunch on an upstairs balcony overlooking the street one day.

Headed there in 3 weeks. Will be my first time to visit and I'm stoked.

Choose your hotel location wisely. That city is crazy as hell to get around, so you want easy access to some walkable great restaurants and sights. I can't remember where we stayed, but it was perfect.

Take a trip in the evening up to Lycabettus Hill to watch the sunset. Very good views.

One of the first things we saw when exiting our very nice hotel was a guy shooting up with a needle sticking out of his arm in broad daylight.

Athens CAN be a real shithole in areas so just be prepared. Lots of graffiti, lots of grime, it goes from a nice area to a bum filled drug pit quickly.

Do your research, be prepared.
