Slow TV Menus

I have a Samsung that I picked up from Sam's Club about a year ago or so and the picture is just fine for streaming but initial startup on it reminds of old Windows machines. Just turn it on and make a cup of coffee before trying to do anything, is there anything short of loading a custom OS into one of these to make it a little quicker?

Go Roku Ultra. The amount of RAM, etc., dedicated to on board Roku (TCL) vs. how fast a three year old Ultra performs is completely clear.

I think you're just going to have to get a separate streaming device. I've got an Apple TV that's very fast. I can't comment on the other devices.

I was going to suggest like others have and like I always do, get a separate streaming stick, though I'm not sure that will solve your particular problem. I don't know if the TV will still have to boot up before it will show your streaming stick input.

I can't wait for the day that TV UI and Vehicle touch screens catch up with technology...

Learned my lesson after the 1st smart TV. It was slow to begin with and got slower over time with app updates. Now I use 4K Apple TV on one flatscreen and XBox OneX for the other. Both TV's have a smart interface. Roku and I forget the other type but both suck and I don't use them anymore. Apple TV is hands down my fav. The phone remote works awesome with it as well because it's a built in widget for most iOS phones.

My Samsung experience:
I have one Samsung that does fine, as long as you're going from channel 22 to 44, etc. but if I want to go into some of the settings, it takes 5 or so seconds to go from a white blob to the setting you're going for.
Samsung has a whole group of other internet channels built in, independent from your cable provider, and there's a lag using the remote numbers rather than scroll up or down.
