You are joking, right?

I see no reason why he can’t play professional soccer at some level. There are many leagues and many levels. Max Cavana(a former Catholic High player) is a professional player. We are not talking about the EPL level. Relax.

Yeah. I know Max very well. This kid is a good player, but I think “relax” is some good advice to you in this one.

“relax” is is about right for you

I don’t have a dog in this fight. I don’t care one way or the other. I wish them both luck. I was just responding to your comment. I don’t think it’s that far fetched for Kayden to play professional in another country. It could happen. On what level or how long? I might disagree he will play for a long time. So just relax lol

I was very curious to see him play before making any comments. I know the current state of affairs with La ODP is less than ideal so it is hard to say what "good" looks like with ODP since most of the TDP kids skip it. That said, you can see raw talent in him. He made a few moves past TDP level defenders but couldn't get off a good shot on goal. At times, Jesuit sports 3 TDP kids on the backline alone so I knew he was facing a stiff challenge. I won't make any comments on whether he's overseas level, but it is a shame he doesn't play TDP and get to show himself against the MLS academies in TX, CO, and MO. But maybe he will get a look from MLS academies by being on the ODP national team. I wish him luck.

Yeah my son is in ODP (2011). It’s a huge money grab. Few hundred bucks per event, stay to play hotel rules (3 days for the next tournament). I’m already almost $1,000 in and we haven’t even factored in food and gas

I feel ya. We have a tournament in Pensacola. It’s months away and I’m already in a grand.

His older sister played rec her whole life and is one of the best players on her school team. Just finished an undefeated season. Go figure.

Thanks for the rational reply. Maybe I’m a little overzealous and definitely biased. He is a great kid and a great teammate. He is obviously very raw and I believe is just starting to scratch the surface of his athletic potential. Has never really been interested in TDP but maybe that will change. As far as I know he will continue to play for Ascension as well but will also be spending some time in Europe this spring… so we’ll see where that goes.

(Regardless it is exciting for the kid and those around him. It’s a shame that some people go straight to downplaying and crapping a kid’s achievements.)

Congrats to her!

Yeah I mean it’s an honor so I hope OP didn’t take what I said as something that didn’t deserve recognition or praise. My son was one of 13 selected and I am very proud of him. We have a tournament this weekend.

Watching your kid succeed in the beautiful game is one of the best things about being a parent.

However, the pay to play system in this country is absolutely ridiculous.

I couldn’t agree more.

Yeah and there are plenty of people who will tell you that it’s not. It’s bullshite. Once tournament weekends hit in the spring and fall I know for fact I’ll be all in about $800 to a $1,000 for the weekend. Not a lot of parents can afford that.

My girls are currently in academy setup at U11 and certain aspects of it drive me up a wall. Within the academy (and all travel ball across sports) there seems to be a belief that traveling will inherently make your kid better at soccer. At this age, reps is what is needed above all in all sports. We travelled to Lafayette in the fall for them to play one league game. That time in the car would have been much better spent playing multiple games against a team closer to home

Ha, you are just dipping your toe. At higher levels you can be driving 5+ hours or flying for a single game...
