The 2026 World Cup final is set to be held at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, with FIFA picking the venue ahead of the MetLife Stadium in New York.

According to The Sun, FIFA will confirm the choice later this week and soccer's governing body is also set to base itself in Texas for the tournament in 2026.

Big Surprise to me. I figured it would be a coastal city.

No surprise at all. Massive stadium. Central location. Soccer community. Jerry Jones bought the final.

Same, great stadium with 100k+ capacity and the screens guarantee you can see the game from anywhere. Although it is not a multi-purpose stadium.

I guess I'm more surprised because it would be the first final hosted in an indoor stadium. I know it has a retractable roof, but still.

We've seen them put down sod successfully there, as well as it being a shite show. They're gonna have to leave the roof open all summer for the tournament.

American airlines, Southwest, and Uber drivers fixing to bank with the tourney and final being based there.

It’s terrible for watching soccer live

Saw the national team play there

shite saw the redskins play there. It sucks in the upper deck

Amazing facility though

My first thought but that’s how most of the US venues could be labeled

Also Dallas isn’t a destination city

People don’t vacation to this country from abroad and say we have to go to Dallas

Arlington isn’t an attractive city and other than Texas live most the bars are a good walk from stadium

Why does it have to be a ‘destination city’?

Most tourists that come to america have already been to those places most likely

Bc just about every modern WC final has been held in one with an iconic stadium

Yes most iconic American stadiums with history are gone. But Dallas just doesn’t offer what you expect out of a city hosting a final.

What about the thousands of fans who are making their first trip……

well the last final was held in qatar....and was a smashing success. even though fans had to stay in shipping containers converted to living quarters.

and jerry world is by definition an iconic modern stadium. i've experienced it and there isn't a bad seat in the house.

you make it sound like Dallas is wyoming or something

if they got the funds to attend a world cup final, then they have the funds to city hop if desired before heading to dallas.

All this talk about soulless stadium and not a destination city, but what’s the alternative.

Surely we’re not thinking the final should be played in the Rose Bowl, unless we want to show the rest of the world what America was like in the 1950’s.

It was not a smashing success what in the frick are you talking about

They literally flew in fans from the sub continent and paid them to create an atmosphere

It’s a beautiful facility buts Jerry World isn’t iconic. As for not a bad seat in the house. Literally if you are in the upper deck on the side lines you have to basically watch on the big screen. That’s the definition of a bad seat being so far up you can’t see the game.

I’ve been there for soccer and the sight lines suck for it. I was sitting in the club section and it still wasn’t great. The way NFL stadiums are designed, the lower level isn’t build for soccer and it affects the rest of the viewing experience. Just like how Wembley isn’t meant for NFL. I’ve seen about 5 soccer matches there and have seen the Redskins play. The upper deck there if you are close enough worked out bc it’s build that you hang over the pitch.

It’s why the Spurs stadium was designed the way it was

You would be surprised how many fans pinch the budget to to attend the World Cup. shite Argentina fans sell their cars and take second mortgages just to pay for flights.

…but what non-baseball stadium in America is?

Again, I keep coming back to the Rose Bowl, but that is no longer able to properly host a final.

And if you want to talk about bad sightlines, go sit in the upper rows there.

Lambeau is the first that comes to mind or Solider field if they would have kept up with maintaining the upgrade’s. Obviously there are college stadiums we have that even hosted soccer.

Vegas for the modern stadiums is a better choice. If Stan wasn’t an idiot LA would be hosting the final.
