That is so pathetic. Our military vets deserve way more.

The only way Veterans will get any respect is to come thru the border illegally, which is extremely sad!

Don't forget all the money we spend on foreign aid as well. Our own people are the last to ever get anything.

Respect for our military is at an all time low. There’s little to no incentive to join, much less stay around for multiple enlistments. I hate to say it but the quality of people joining has gotten significantly worse in the past few years. Standards are almost non existent.

there is a bill called the Major Richard Star Act veterans are trying to get passed by congress. it is to give GWOT veterans who were injured/maimed their earned retired pay.

military retirees who do 20 years get whats called CRDP(concurrent retirement disability pay). meaning they get their full disability from the VA plus retired pay from the branch. for guys who got blown up just 3 years into their military career they get the branch retirement pay waived for VA disability only.

they are forced to sign the waiver or they won't receive any pay at all. can you imagine telling a guy who got his legs blown off during patrol that he doesn't deserve his full pay? therein lies the problem, most people in the House and Senate support the bill but they can't find the 10 billion to fund it over 10 years. they can't find 10 billion over 10 years but can pass 61 billion in a week for Ukraine.

Should be a good campaign platform for non-incumbents.

i want to preface this with i feel absolutely no entitlement to any sort of veterans discounts or special treatment from anyone at any time. BUT - i will say that it has been a very clear decline since i joined in the middle of the GWOT years until now, based on the aforementioned discounts and benefits from the public at large. lots of the big companies have walked back their military discounts or made it more difficult to acquire. i honestly dont care, and most of the time i dont even ask for the discount even if i know they have one because i feel like an entitled dickhead. but it's still been interesting to watch.

i think a large part of this is from general "thanks for your service fatigue" as well as the quality of individuals in the military has dropped significantly, and, quite frankly, there are a lot of extremely entitled military people these days who havent deployed farther than the east coast but act like they deserve super special treatment. i hate being associated with them, which is why i rarely even bother anymore.
