I have been leaning pro-JBE though I am a socially conservative nationalist, largely because it seems like the fix is in for Rispone. That fix seems to me to be driven by a really dysfunctional, ineffective state Party that needs to be blown up.

Watching Rob Maness's endorsement of JBE, though, has pushed me back toward Rispone. The argument that Rispone avoided Vietnam while JBE went to West Point ergo JBE merits my vote is asinine.

Speaking rationally, who cares? Why is there some portion of the populace that seems to want a bunch of military officers running the executive branch of government? Are we just fully endorsing the banana republic, Argentinian dictatorship model of government now?

What's so great about West Point anyway? My only real exposure to their students was when they came to Hattiesburg to play football, got their butts whipped, and trashed the locker room in retaliation. Oh, and I guess beyond that I've run into a few overpaid executives who parlayed their West Point ring and a few tired buzzwords into a bunch of cash. Yawn. Those guys aren't fixing anything.

Less rationally, Maness has gone from "pretty decent guy" to "complete assclown" in my book over the last few years. That guy is like the dork who asks every single girl to prom and still doesn't get a date. His picture is next to the word LOSER in my dictionary. Wouldn't let him walk my dog, much less influence my vote.

Anyway, I'm still (mostly) pro-JBE, but my enthusiasm has just been killed by this Maness crap.

I never quite understood the obsession with some people that governors and presidents should have military experience.

It strikes me as close-minded and kind of elitist/ableist

Under such logic, someone with a stellar record, great ideas, etc should not be president because they had a heart condition that kept them out of military

Acts like he's god's gift to Louisiana conservatives, Can't get elected dogcatcher in the reddest district in Louisiana.

He ran for senate twice, got blown out both times and then ran for a state rep seat and got blown out in that as well.

He's an attention whore who thinks his opinion is some end all be all when it's worth dogshit.

Sometimes the fix is the correct decision to make and the right way forward.

JBE has been an absolutely terrible Governor for Louisiana and is absolutely worthless and not useful to the producers of this state.

OMG, who the frick cares what a bunch of party hacks do? They are nowhere near as powerful you think they are and don't control shite in this state.

I just want a Governor who will lower my taxes and my car insurance rates and stop harassing the largest private employer in Louisiana in Oil and Gas.

He follows the McSally formula, which is, "I'm a veteran and therefore I should be in office." Veterans are great, but you need more than that.

Probably taking a page out of the Jay Dardenne book. He hopes that if JBE wins, he'll get a cushy administration job and salary.

Rob Maness is such a loser. He was on team Mary Landrieu in 2014.

Agreed. I would assume outside of funding, due to Louisiana's jungle primary system, the party bosses don't have the same control their counterparts in other states have.

Rispone paid for his own college education. JBE got the taxpayers to pay for his.

The "fix" is called the fix for a reason. Why would you not want to fix the state?

I honor the service of veterans. And all things being equal, it would push me in their favor.

But are all things equal? What has the veteran done since the service? I mean, Benedict Arnold was not only a veteran, but a war hero, all the way until he became a traitor.

So JBE was a non-combat veteran. Did his time for free college education. Cool!

But then he became an ambulance chaser. He lied and raised my taxes and the taxes of every man woman and child, even the desperately poor. He created a corrupt medical welfare scheme. And his policies have prevented the magnificent Trump economy from lifting our workers out of the Obama/oil crash/Jindal mess. Now our loved ones and friends must flee the state like 3rd world refugees for jobs.

It’s time for him to start chasing ambulances again and stop screwing up the whole state of Louisiana!

Attacking Rispone about Vietnam is low. Has Rispone attacked JBE about Desert Storm or Desert Shield??

The fix was most definitely not in for Rispone. If anything the establishment favored Abraham. Abraham just didn’t really come across that well to the public for whatever reason.

Sure now people have mostly closed ranks, but that is hardly a fix.

Otherwise known as the "take the house" strategy from 2006. Democrat + veteran = enough conservative votes to win.

Tulsi is making that strategy work on a lot of you. Good thing her own party members won't vote for her.

As a social conservative how in the hell can you be confused on who to vote for. Please don’t say abortion as Eddie isn’t campaigning on third trimester abortions..

Maness is so desperate for relevancy he would vote democrat if he thought he could land a Facebook like out of it. He cares only for himself and is still butthurt that he can’t get elected to student council at this point. He believes that with military service comes some sort of political infallibility. His endorsement of JBE, whatever that is worth, can only help Rispone.

JBE has been a tremendous failure for La’s middle class. Just a fact.

So, this RINO endorses a failure...such a disappointment.

Spread the word on this clown. Keep him irrelevant.

In regards to lowering taxes, Rispone could start by restoring the deduction for federal taxes. I doubt he will be able to do anything about high insurance rates, since it's primarily due to high claims in LA.

Some even parlayed their West Point ring into a stint as governor of Louisiana. He's what is know as a "ticket puncher."
