This brings to mind Bum Philip’s apocryphal quote about Bear Bryant:

“He can take his'n and beat your'n and take your'n and beat his'n.”

We have motorpools around the country filled with old Abrams. I'm assuming the cost being reported is the cost to have them kitted up and altered for use in Ukraine. This has never been anything but a way to send more money to the MIC.

ETA drones are a relatively new battle weapon and no Tech is really immune

You would think some form of jamming could be employed. Like a major sporting events law enforcement has the ability to take over the drone and land it somewhere.

Agree. The tank crews make the Abrams effective. Also when we operate the Abrams we have air superiority. You need good crews and air support. Our fighters clear the skies, the Warthogs knock the enemy force down, the Apaches chip away some more and the Abrams finish them off. We don’t want to fight fair.

Tanks are now easy targets for drones and drones doing spotting for artillery.

Can you imagine the drone swarms over Taiwan if they do attack them?

This is a 40-year-old mission set. New tech (drones) has slightly changed the battlefield. Do we really need fighters to provide air superiority when all I need are sub-$10k drones to provide the same role as an A-10 could do? Plus all the support an A-10 needs to remain in the air?

We have seen older Bradelys taking out older Russian tanks. Maybe if we go against a major power we'll need Abrams. The world is changing.

The US Switchblade drones come in two forms, one for attacking personnel and the other for attacking armor. The great weakness is that they >$60k each.

Very low cost drone swarms will soon be capable of sweeping an entire front because current cell phone like processors are capable of image recognition, tracking and targeting without a remote controller.

There is one company that upgrades the Abrams. The one's sold to Ukraine were the original frames .....Now zoom forward to yesterday.

Austin comes out and declares that F-16's will be sent to provide air support.

In other words .....these idiots had to see the Abrams fail in combat to realize they needed air support?

As gutless and useless as the morons in charge of transportation and the EPA.

Switchblade turned out to be a dud in Ukraine.

Yeah, the cheap mass produced drones are tearing up the battlefield.

This is the world record 1500 drone light show. Image if they were armed and with a mission to find, track and kill.

The Abrams is a solid weapon. More than likely it’s the personnel operating it.
