Yes the same Jackson, MS and mayor who cry racism at the state for not handing them money on a whim, has been caught throwing money away on Covid sanitation jobs. And, of course, it is suspected that money may have made it back to pockets of city officials.

And everyone is wondering where Republican hit piece awar….I mean Pulitzer Prize award winning “Mississippi Today” is. Not a peep as usual on Jackson Corruption.

Paid to have been a Covid Exterminator.

quote:

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - For the first time, invoices from the city of Jackson reveal how a Florence company claimed to spend hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars during the COVID-19 pandemic, all under the guise of keeping city employees healthy.

WLBT obtained more than a hundred invoices for work allegedly done by L&N Enterprises, LLC. Their job, as defined by those records of payment: spray and disinfect city buildings to help cut down on the spread of COVID-19.

What the invoices show, however, raises more questions.

The city paid the company $21,600 to clean areas of the Jackson Zoo over six months.

Some of those disinfection visits happened every week.

The biggest payouts include a deep cleaning and COVID spray throughout Thalia Mara Hall on August 4, 2020, costing $22,896.

Five days later, L&N Enterprises issued an invoice charging the same amount for cleaning the same building again, exactly as before.

3 On Your Side showed City Council President Ashby Foote those invoices, and he outlined several red flags.

“I didn’t realize there were two different bills that close together. There’s others where there’s $18,000, an even $18,000,” Foote said. “It’s not clear how they came up with the $18,000. It’s just a general explanation. No metric as to this many hours per work. There’s no clear understanding from the invoices of what all the work was that was going to be done, what it involves.”

Some records don’t even show which specific buildings were serviced.

From February to April of 2021, L&N Enterprises got paid $18,000 each week to disinfect 14 locations around the city.

WLBT actually asked for these documents 21 months ago, when we first investigated this company, but the city denied our request, saying the company was under investigation.

Around the same time, Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba fired then-Constituent Services Manager Keyshia Sanders and held a press conference with Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens, announcing they would get to the bottom of any misappropriated funds.

But remember. Not giving Jackson millions in state funds to get their rickety water system running again was racist. While they have lost the settlement money from Siemens and are being busted left and right for misappropriation.

Now you know why Bennie Thompson loaded his lard arse back on a jet for Washington after his “concern” that the state was being racist and all the books started to be opened.

Chump change.

Ochsner got $75 MILLION to build a new "Covid" wing of the hospital.

The New Orleans Convention Center got over $200 MILLION dollars in FEMA Covid Public Assistance money.

Schools in Louisiana received BILLIONS for Covid and only a couple of parishes spent a dime to improve Indoor Air Quality...

And the list goes on and on...

I guarantee you that the owners of this “business” is a friend or family member of someone in the city government. And I guarantee they were getting a nice cut of the money.

As a Mississippi resident this kind of shite infuriates me.

Open corruption dismissed because of the fear of being called racist.

I took a look at L&N Enterprises. Take a look at google maps of their corporate office.

They were paid over $1,000,000 in less than a year for “cleaning services.”

This happened all over the country.

All it took was a few industrial grade spray wands and a 200 ft hose reel connected to a tank of "disinfectant". The people smart enough to figure this out charged by the square foot and charged pretty much whatever they wanted. Walk in with your white haz mat suits (really just disposable tyveks) goggles, n95 mask, and spray your magic mist all over schools, government buildings, and federal buildings.

You people act so surprised. The federal government poured money to the states in exchange for compliance. This money HAD to be spent in a few loosely defined ways.

A city near me used it to put turf on the ball fields for fricks sake.

You are right that everyone knew there was an incredible amount of misappropriation in covid funds.

The part that's hard for me to believe is that when open corruption is exposed, no one cares, and excuses by the perps are just taken as truth.

Fun fact: Their editor's mom works in the state attorney general's office and approved the Favre deal twice.

Another fun fact: They did zero actual investigative reporting. They just took credit for Shad White's efforts.

This isn’t even a story. A story worth writing would be “Jackson makes sure covid funds get to citizens in need.”
