They got there after the cut off time and they wouldn’t let them in.

So they decided to riot and broke a glass door.

That would qualify as an insurrection in some quarters for infiltrating a locked public building to interrupt a proceeding. Just saying ......

Well, the good news is they were “dissed” and no one was shot. So they have that going for them.

Assuming the video is telling the truth about the times, cutting off access before 5pm for a 6pm ceremony does seem a bit extreme.

There appears to be a lot of people at the entrance, including graduates, so it wasn't just a few straggling family members.

That doesn't excuse acting like idiots and getting the whole ceremony canceled, but it seems like there's more to this story.

Well, white people can mess up graduations, too. Anyone see the Thomas Jefferson University attempt to pronounce very simple names of graduates?

It was a failure of the school. They didn't issue tickets or in any other way limit attendance (e.g., max of 4 per graduate or something). So, a relatively small venue was overcrowded. While true that people who arrived early got in, the crowd that wasn't let in wasn't necessarily late based on some announced cut off time.

They made a graduation ceremony first come first served and should have predicted that based on the venue size this would result in some pissed off people who drove/flew in to see their family graduate. Now, that doesn't justify trying to bust down the doors, but people were predictably pissed.

Most of them probably have no jobs and not accustomed to a work schedule, so they have no sense of time

Pretty sure the fire marshal shut it down because of over capacity. Not that the school might not have canceled it also, but fire marshal made the call.

Yeah I just read an article and the issue was overcrowding, not being late.

I think "late" meant "didn't have a seat" in this instance, b/c Howard didn't use an adequately-sized hall for the graduation.

And just to clarify elsewhere, this was only for the college of nursing.

Make bad decisions or missteps, suffer consequences of their bad decisions or missteps, claim to be victims. Sounds about right.

The clock at Lambeau Field is 15 minutes early for Lombardi Time. Being a little early is a good habit .
