A Brooklyn man was sentenced to 10 years in prison after he was found to have an arsenal of more than a dozen ghost guns inside his apartment, according to the district attorney.

Dexter Taylor was sentenced to spend a decade in prison on Monday after being convicted by a jury in April on a slew of firearms-related charges. Brooklyn DA Eric Gonzalez said that the 53-year-old Taylor had ordered a number of ghost gun kits and parts from different online retailers and had them shipped to his home on Eldert Street in Bushwick.

During a search of his apartment in April 2022, officers found four AR-15 style assault weapons, five handguns, four rifles and more than 50 rounds of ammo in an unlocked safe and a closet. Gun powder, shell casings, triggers, a 3D printer and other parts used to build guns were also uncovered during the search, the DA said.

According to evidence presented during the trial, Taylor spent about $40,000 to get the ghost gun parts and tools. He did not have any gun license, officials said.

"Ghost guns are a threat to New Yorkers everywhere, and my office is working tirelessly with our partners in law enforcement to stop their proliferation," said Gonzalez. "Today’s sentence should send a message to anyone who, like this defendant, would try to evade critically important background checks and registration requirements to manufacture and stockpile these dangerous weapons. Every ghost gun we take off the street is a win for public safety."

Attorney information for Taylor was not immediately available.

These are disgusting people no decent person should be forced to share a country with.

Unless he was selling them, what am I missing? You can build your own firearms as long as aren't selling them.

He was selling them. Started as a hobby .....grew to a decent business.

So, you can legally buy these components but can't assemble, then sell?

Yet there really isn't a law that is challenged Constitutionally? I see a challenge coming before SCOTUS which may release Dexter ......Otherwise he learns a new trade in prison.......

By the time SCOTUS grants cert he’ll already be released.

Pretty dumb to do anything firearm related in New York IMO.

This is the judge who said the Second Amendment does not apply in her court.

I could not see myself living in NY state.

Every gun taken from a citizen is a violation of the 2nd Amendment and a threat to America as constituted.

So what gun laws were there on the books in 1787?

He should have just assaulted an old lady on the street then he would be out of jail before the cops finished the paper work.

On top of that he had fifty rounds of ammunition. Fifty! Who in their right mind needs that many?

Probably locked up for refusing to work with FBI when the bureau attempted to extort him into a “cooperative arrangement” instead of reporting him for the *crime* of assembling his own firearms.

Echoes of Ruby Ridge.

I’m purely speculating.
I have no proof of this theory.
I just really distrust the FBI and look for opportunities to remind people of what kind of shitbags work for the agency.

Which is why we need not ever elect a lawyer to represent us as a law maker. At that point, laws could be written to jail those who arrest and imprison people for "breaking" a law that is later over-turned due to being un-constitutional.

Right now we have a bunch of law making lawyers scratching each others backs while creating a ton of job security.
