That stat blew me away when I heard it last night

But I looked it up and it’s true

That might explain what we are seeing. These students aren’t loyal to Americans because they aren’t even American.

55% foreign student seems to be an immense national security concern.

Ivy schools are world renowned, they are known for being picky about who they take, and foreign students normally pay full freight.

Combine that with the outsized influence of some countries / donors and you can explain how Obama transferred in there from Occidental then how he rose through Harvard Law to head of Law Review while never writing an article.

I would think those schools have been that way for at least a few decades now

This. It's all about money. They take wealthy kids of oil sheiks or Chinese businessmen who will pay massive tuition fees. They don't give a frick about American students.

I'm fine with some foreign students, but it should not surpass 10% in my opinion. 50% is a slap in the face to Americans.

Here is the reason. This is happening at a lot of high priced schools.

I wonder if there is a tax code that allows the institution to write off some debts for having a student body that consist of X% of foreigners. otherwise, why else would they want so many foreigners?

55 % is not really that bad, when you get into Masters and Doctors degrees its closer to 95 %. Issue is foreigners are supported by their country of origin while US BS graduates need to get a job

Can you imagine breaking the law in a foreign country?

If I was going to school in Asia or the Middle East, I would be scared to jay walk. I would also be very respectful to my host country.

Foreigners will pay high five or low six figures for tuition, especially if it means several years of a student visa.

Now apply this to Illegal Immigrants some say as high as 40 to 50 million that are here. There will be a Great War. It’s coming.

This is happening at a lot of regular universities, too, I’d imagine.

I have personal experience with this phenomenon.

Two of my daughters [no pics at all of anyone ever don’t ask, lol] are enrolled in the registered nursing program at a local university and are on full or partial academic scholarships.

At the pinning ceremony, our family noticed that about 15% of the students were from another country. We asked about it (tactfully) and were told basically what many in this thread are saying: foreign students pay more in tuition and fees allowing the college of nursing to stay in the black, so to speak.

Without SOMEONE paying full price, it would be more difficult for the university to offer scholarships to local kids. This is not the only way scholarships are funded, obviously. It’s just one reason there might be a surprising number of foreign students at local colleges and universities.

Also, the United States isn’t perfect by a long shot, but people still see it as a desirable place to live and be educated.
So there’s that, too.

Any student on a student visa who threatens others, damages property, or breaks laws should be deported to their home country..

It's not just the Ivy's doing this. UW-Madison has seen a large increase in out of state and foreign students over the past few decades.
