Is it allowed to carry a side arm while inside a game management area (Honey Island Swamp) during off season closures.

Stay out of my swamp. Haha jk.
I often wonder about this too as I’m legally allowed to keep on chambered when I go to Walmart. I do know that when I’m walking through the thickets in there that I always carry my side arm cause they have some big ones running through that swamp.

Understand completely. Two weeks ago while bank fishing for Sac-a-lait I and my son came upon 5 gentleman (non speaking English) and it was uncomfortable to say the least. That’s why I asked about this carry issue.

Per the WMA: "Firearms having live ammunition in the chamber, magazine, cylinder or clip when attached to firearms or crossbows cocked and in the ready position are not allowed in or on vehicles, boats under power, motorcycles, ATVs/UTVs, ATCs or in camping areas on WMAs."

Scroll to the middle of the page under "Firearms."

I thought you could carry on WMA if you had a concealed permit.

If you read your article a few paragraphs down
quote:

Active and retired law enforcement officers in compliance with POST requirements, Federal Law Enforcement Officers and holders of Louisiana concealed handgun permits or permit holders from a reciprocal state, who are in compliance with all other state and federal firearms regulations, may possess firearms on WMAs, provided these firearms are not used for any hunting purpose.

So yes, you can carry in a wma. I don’t walk into the woods without my pistol. I carry preseason when I scout and look for trees to climb.

I don’t understand how a state agency can tell me I can’t have a loaded pistol in my truck on state property when the state law says I can.
