I found my longtime Rocky boots have finally dry rotted and need a new pair. What brand should I look at?

Reviews on the Red Head and Lacrosse non rubber kind aren’t good. Anyone try the Irish Setter Vapretrek? Cabela’s has a pair for just under $200? Other?

Please and thank you.

Do you have a preference on zip up, lace up, pull-on? And what about height and waterproofness?

ETA: This is what I have: 4X Alpha Snakeboot - $160

They're lightweight, comfortable, waterproof and allow me to wear the same boots regardless of conditions until it gets cold enough to not need snake boots.

I've duck, turkey, dove, deer, squirrel, quail and pheasant hunted in them. If you're hiking/climbing on elevated/mountainous terrain they're probably not your best bet, but otherwise they're a great boot. I've been pleased.

My BIL bought some of these and I did not believe him that they were even snake boots at first. They just look like a regular ole pair of rubber boots. I need to invest in a pair of these.

Chippewa’s that zip in the back, or Danner’s

I’m not opposed to that style, I’ve just stayed away from rubber boots because walking is a lot of work and they’re hot as hell. Don’t really give much in the way of ankle support.

A little out of my price range. I tried on the Danner Pronghorn snake boots, and like my old pair of danner work boots they were very comfortable. But at a cool $330, that’s an awful lot of money.

I bought these Justin’s on Amazon around this time last year for just over $100. They’ve been pretty good. Replaced some Irish Setter cordura boots that rotted out.
