Heading to the camp this weekend with the kids. Trying to find some crickets in the Baton Rouge area or on the way to St. Francisville. Y'all know of any ?

Check with Ed's Shenandoah Hardware on Jones Creek. It may be a little early yet but he sells crickets and shiners spring and summer.

Second vote for Ed's, just hope the old guy isn't working. He wont get them for you and tell you they sold out even though you can hear them in the box.

So there's an Exxon station on the left in St. Fran right before where 61 intersects the northern portion of Commerce Street called Feliciana Seafood and Deli. I believe they have crickets - may want to google them and get a # and call.

Also, Pat's Home Center and Plantation Feed and Supply (just past the above mentioned Exxon) on 61 might have them. I would try to call those three options in St. Fran.

If you make it as far as Woodville, Flick's (northwest corner of Hwy 61 x Hwy 24 four way) has them.

If you are in a pinch most PetSmart sell crickets. They charge a little more, but it is better than nothing.

I'm pretty sure that Pat's Hardware in St Francisville has them. It might be worth calling them.

Honore Lane off of Siegen. First house on the left behind the Siegen Inn motel, directly behind Jason's Deli. They sell shiners and crickets from the back porch of the house.

This may be the worst business model I have ever heard of.

Crickets off the back porch of a sketchy house off a sketchy road that has no traffic?

I'm by no means a bream buster, but worms on the bottom are often better than crickets in the winter. I'd at least get some worms just in case.

An old black guy started raising bait for his own use and for his friends and family, but had a bunch and started selling to the public too, by word of mouth. He ended up getting really sick and died, but his family still sells bait to carry on his memory. They don't do it to make a bunch of money, but it's one of the few places in BR to buy bait. Cash only, but been going there for years, they're good people. Not many other places in town that sell shiners. Only other places I know of on the south side of town or Ascension is Cabela's or Ascension Living and Outdoors, but they're both hit or miss. Gotta drive to Port Vincent otherwise.
