Why are cheap affordable basic utility vehicles blocked in the U.S. market?

Trucks like this? There’s a major market for cheap affordable vehicles that leave out all the fancy tech that no one wants. Why can’t these enter the U.S. market over the lowest average for a new car being 30k.

Emissions standards.

Give me Toyota Helix and may be the last truck I buy. When in Panama last year I drooled at them and they were everywhere.

Probably a lot to do with safety standards... imagine a suicide capsule like that driving on i10 in Houston...

My bad sorry you want to pay an extra 60k for you’re heated seats, lane control, touch screen dash board, and defroster window for a work utility vehicle.

I'd buy one today if I could. Not sure why every freaking truck in this country has to be $60K+.

You can get a used street legal K truck (jap truck) for about $5,000. I'm seriously considering getting one for around the house.

Lots of people will say they "would" buy one but how many actually would? I'm skeptical

Also, emissions and safety

I felt the same way about the Toyota Fortuners in Colombia. Bigger than a 4runner smaller than a landcruiser. Sold here as the lexus GX but these were more rugged.

work utility vehicle.

Are you talking about using this on a private farm or facility as opposed to driving around the city in a street legal vehicle?

Also, you have to remember...if there was money to be made selling those here they would.

I believe the import tariff on "small utility trucks" is something ridiculous like 60% which prices them out of what any reasonable person would pay. Saw a brand new Chevy S-10 the other day with Mexico plates and damn did that thing look nice.

Well, I can’t afford anything on the market anyway, so what difference does it make?

This is simple from an economic perspective.

The cost to arrest then house those committing hate crimes against dudes that drive these would outweigh the sales and assumes much less risk.

All this talk about third world countries and yet most of those people could work circles around the lazy pieces of shite we have over here.
