It’s one thing to wishlist about a super car. A more interesting question was what’s your favorite vehicle you ever owned.

Mine was this baby…blue 1984 Honda Prelude…16 year old Squatch with the help of his folks picked it up in 1987. You might think “girls car” but dad wanted something reliable and in the ‘80s the Japs we’re putting out some nice vehicles.

5 speed and handled like a dream. Straight off the boat with hooks on the bottom. Alpine stereo and speakers and 50/50 weighted front to back with Pirelli’s to hold the mountain turns. Got me through high school and college. Could dump the clutch and smoke the front tires. Rarely changed the oil. More than one girl got mostly nekkid in that car.

Had a cooler in the trunk during the summer of 1990 that always had beer in it. Had an alternator die while delivering pizza in Athens (if your dash lights start dimming pull over), had a water pump freeze up on the Atlanta highway and burn the belt off, and had a right front flat on 75 north in the fast lane just off of 285 where I had to pull over in the inside mercy lane, unload all my shite from the trunk and change it with my arse hanging out in the fast lane.

Over the course of 8 years, put it in the ditch on the mountain twice,, had a glancing head on passing two cars (one in front was turning left….whoops), hit an old woman in a big car who made a u turn on the bypass on-ramp in Athens right in front of me (not my fault) and hit a deer which crushed the headlight.

After the deer strike couldn’t afford to turn it into insurance because it would total the car. Had the other light go out at night in Atlanta after hitting a bump…so had to get home with the brights on. Housing on the crashed side was messed up but I jimmied a headlight in there by bending the housing and using a toggle bolt to adjust.

Old gal finally seized up in the driveway around 1995 with 275k miles. Some redneck racing boys I knew bought it off me for $500 because they wanted to turn it into a dirt track car.

I like to think she’s still out there turning laps today.

No sentimental value for that first car you owned?

I’m on my second ES350 and they’re fantastic but I experienced more in that damn Honda that I’ll ever do in any other vehicle.

My first one. 1997 Ford Explorer. When it came to learning how to drive, that was a great one.

1981 Ford F100. 3 on the tree with cowhide seats and a rattle can paint job. I felt like a pimp as a late 90’s high schooler.

It was a POS that needed nothing but more and more maintenance, but dammit she was FINE!

Bought it in 2006 with 20,000 miles on it. Gave it to my MIL after her car got stolen in 2014. It sits in her driveway and hasn’t been driven in over 2 years, but she doesn’t want to let me fix it and give it to my 15 year old.

The knock off posts are becoming a problem. Hopefully chicken deals with it.

It’s one thing to be an adult and have a nice car that fits your job and responsibilities. But that first real car you have as a kid and all of the crazy shite you did with it sticks with you.

I hit 110 mph in that Prelude coming back from Chattanooga one night on 75 and I thought it was going to take off and fly.
