What to look for when buying a golf cart...any advice?

We are looking to buy a golf cart. We have one of those neighborhoods where they are welcomed and I have some real jealousy going on watching these things cruise around. I think we just need a 4 seater, so seats where golf clubs would go. I think we want electric (no massive hills in our neighborhood and I don’t feel like buying gas for another thing).

Are there traps I need to be wary of? Any brands to look for/avoid? Lessons learned from others who have bought one before?

ETA:

How much am I looking to pay?

Also a typo I fixed --

I will not be using this for golf, just cruising around, going to the edge of a local creek with the kiddos so they can look for snakes, going to neighbors, etc.

This tracks with what I've seen on the internet I think, but there are a huge range of prices.

I read on Reddit to ask how old the batteries are because that's a big cost to replace?

I was hoping for something more like 3k but that might not be in the cards.

I just bought a black Epic E40L and love it. Top speed is 25 MPH. I don't max it out the whole time when going to downtown BSL but it's about 10 miles round trip from our camp and usually takes up 40-50% battery life. The soundbar that comes with it is awesome too. For the most part ours will only get used on weekends so I was told by a friend to avoid gas.

I've got that same rig, but mine is branded Icon. They must be made by the same people.. I love mine.

Yup, Icon bought Epic 2 years ago I believe. My buddy has an Icon and that's what made me look into them.

Icon sucks. The suspension is nonexistent.

A toy I can pay cash for isn't really the same as an 84 month loan on a truck I can't afford. We'll use the shite out of it too.

That is way nicer than I was looking for

I need no bells or whistles. 4 seats and reliability.

I don't seem to have that issue, but I'm not off roading. Drive it 3 miles to the course, play golf, then 3 miles back. Never spill a beer

Batteries should have a sticker on them saying when they were made by month and year.

We replaced the batteries in ours a couple years back for $900.

Don’t go cheap on the batteries if you have to replace them, you get what you pay for.
