I’m watching a rec baseball game right now - it’s 14-15 year olds (I think?) - a friend’s son

Since when did baseball players start doing cheers and chants and singing in the Dugout after every pitch??

Sounds like a softball game but these are boys playing baseball.

Kind of fricking weird and flamey!

I was told Rec ball doesn’t exist so I can only assume you’re lying.

Well if the son had made the HS team then you would have realized they cheer and chant, as well.

I wish there was rec ball here for 14-15 year olds who just want to play and have fun.

bullshite… I have never in my life heard 15 year old dudes singing songs together in a dugout - ever in my entire life until this game.

These young men can almost drive.

The coach(also referred to as dad) was too busy telling me and my friends we couldn’t catch our asses with both hands and couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn. Made us men, and there was no singing.

I first started travel ball at 9 I think, and we were just a little neighborhood team. Usually just 10 of us. This was around 1999.

Teams did wild cheers then. Nearly all of them. Moms brought huge speakers and had choreographed chants and shite for different situations that they’d start with music and the kids would keep it going.

I think our team was the only one that didn’t chant shite. Our coaches were fun as hell but didn’t put up with chanting like that. When I got picked up by Chet Lemon’s Juice there was DEFINITELY no chanting then. But it was everywhere in the late 90s.

When did you play?

Exactly.. singing in baseball? Singing like softball players? It’s absurd

I can’t believe there are people in here defending this. It’s very weird and cringeworthy

It was still prevalent with those older age groups too.

How serious of a league did you play in?
