Female family member?

For heart problems men generally have pain in the chest or shoulder, whereas the presenting symptoms for women can be just about anything.

Never heard of back pain being misdiagnosed as heart problems. I wholeheartedly recommend Jackson Heart if someone needs a cardiologist.

Zero heart issues prior to back pain and zero heart issues prior to surgery besides what the cause of back pain lead to heart issues

You kinda give us more info, heart surgery is a broad topic,,,,,, back pain is an anginal equivalent meaning it’s a atypical presentation of cardiac related issues,,,,,need a lot more intel to take an educated guess

Not that unheard of. Some things involving the heart can present with back pain. Aortic dissection being one.

I'm going to guess that the two were actually unrelated, but going to doctor for back pain lead them to discover heart condition.

My heart attack (no classic symptoms) was found through blood work.
My subsequent need for bypass surgery found through a stress test (that I honestly felt I did very well on).

found a hereditary heart condition all because I felt dehydrated and thought I was going to pass out at work one morning.
