With oil prices up, I’ve decided it is time for the mandatory accessory every OT Baller must have but . . .

No trailer hitch.

Who can put one on? Any shops you recommend?

Terrible time to make this decision. There's been a big hitch hike in prices lately.

I cleaned up on the GUSH ETF, so I am feeling flush.

Installation shop would depend on your location.

Whereabouts are you?
If your vehicle is something standard/“regular”, the local U-Haul can do it.

If you have to ask, you’re not ready for a trailer hitch

Most vehicles not that bad to do it yourself and save $150-300.

Certainly call on friend with a lift to make life easier.

Found the time estimates on etrailer to be pretty accurate.

Don’t let Uhaul touch vehicle.

Baton Rouge Area - Pro Pull / Central Hitch. They also have a shop on S Airline Hwy near Woman’s Hospital.

Have your wife remove the chrome off of the hitch before installing. She's quite good.

Im sure I could figure it out, but $150 seems like a low price to pay to have more assurance a couple thousand pound trailer doesn't smash into the back of my truck

It’s worth the money to pay if you have a BMW or similar or simply not handy. Absurd how many SUV/Trucks make it hard af to install.

I put one on my wife's x5, most difficult part was undoing the bumper clips which aren't visible so I had to reach underneath and figure out how to detach them, took me a while to figure it out without breaking them.

other than that it wasn't too hard, but I have done a good bit of car repair stuff on my own, so a novice might not want to try it.

Contact Mike Gerald's in Baton Rouge. They do excellent work and have been in business for 40+ years. They can take care of any hitch install, trailers, custom trailers, parts, repairs.....everything.

Pretty easy 2 man job if you can get under the vehicle.

That said, don’t bother putting one on a Rav4 because that thing could barely haul a bike rack.

Buy hitch off of Amazon made for your vehicle. Watch YouTube video.

Really easy. Usually just 4-6 bolts.

True dat.

When I first got a boat, I had a 2002 Xterra; bought the hitch receiver frame online, and it fit easily and perfectly to the Xterra frame into pre-drilled holes with four bolts. The wiring harness plug was already there in back to plug an extension onto. Easy-peasy lemon squeezee and cheap.

Next two SUVS already had receiver and wiring installed. Even easier.

My last SUV got totaled right before Hurricane Ida; I bought a new SUV that didn't come with the factory hitch receiver. Had a great deal on the purchase-- actually paid less than MSRP, so I took it as is.

Looked underneath in back and there was no wiring in place, and the way the bumper was set up, I could see it would not be an easy job. I paid to have it installed (UHaul) and the installation and wiring was done well, quickly and with no problems for about $150.
