lol

Small businesses lost the war to large businesses because of something called economies of scale. The Walmarts of the world have unit costs a sliver of what “mom and pop” stores have, and they are able to offer lower prices than mom and pop shops.

Consumers decided to end mom and pop stores, not govt favoritism for corporations.

The economies of scale achieved by Walmart and Costco alone have saved the average American thousands of dollars a year in inflation adjusted grocery costs, per formal economic literature on the matter

I've given several answers, including examples of things I've done personally to better myself. You just don't like it.

No your example is not applicable to 2024 nor was it specific. “Try harder” is not an example.

Idk why I argue with you. You’re the reason people think southerners are stupid

Huh? What?

I’m in favor of letting labor markets absorb them into jobs.

You’re in favor of pricing them out of labor markets via binding minimum wage laws.

Again, what’s a better outcome?

Option A: low wage worker unable to find job due to minimum wage law. Spends life on welfare

Option B: low wage worker is employed in low wage job, welfare programs/EITC supplement his income

Option A costs the govt more and is worse for the economy

No sir. The issue is US government monetary policy, period.

$100 in 1990
$238.1 in 2024

Your govt is destroying the dollar with spending.

Mom and Pop Businesses don’t save people money in any way.

People frequent them because we decided local business owners are better than large corporations.

But we don’t seem to extent that kind of generosity to employees.

and of course all expenses are always passed along to the consumer, because companies need to grow their profits every year.

It's amazing you say this with absolute certainty as if there aren't almost countless ways having something available locally immediately might be of benefit to someone.

So at what point do people have to deal with the consequences of their poor decisions? Especially in a country with govt funded education.

Minimum wage is a fallacy and increasing it just drives the CoL that everyone complains about higher. It’s a stupid concept parroted by people who either have never worked or don’t understand basic economics.

The only people that should be making minimum wage are kids and students. My 16 yr old is on his second job and both pay higher than minimum wage.

For the vast majority of consumer good it’s true, Because I can drive to Walmart/Home Depot etc locally and buy most thing immediately.

Anything I cant and we’re talking about more niche markets.

Democrats always feel the poor man is oppressed.

Ive been a poor man, I was never oppressed. There are thousands of avenues to better your life.
