I have shells on every vertical surface on my house, and have swept probably a couple hundred off of just the front porch. What was a faint drone a couple of days ago is now a constant roar. I'm turning into a paranoid schizophrenic because every where I turn there are numerous sets of red eyes watching my every move.

Everything is feasting on them......armadillos, skunks, squirrels, birds.....every neighborhood dog.

One good thing is that they are a cure for my tinnitus, as long as I am outside.

Central GA has been this way for nearly 2 weeks. They're all over, and maddeningly loud.

I live in north Alabama. My driveway, back porch, back door, etc. looks like Jonestown, the day after. Except the cicadas play the part of the cultists. I’ll post pics when I get home.

My yard has to have hundreds of thousands. Below is what the base of all my maples look like. My kids are dead set on eating some, so I think I'll fry some up and see. Supposedly, you want to eat the freshly molted ones that are still white.

There only seem to be a few observations mostly in the eastern part of the state. I think this brood is mostly centered on AL, GA, TN, and eastward.

South LA has the green ones, not the black and red ones.
Maybe we survive Cicadapocalypse

A lot of people do this, but it just isn't for me. The only warning I've heard regarding them is to just not eat too many.

None here in Mandeville. The city had them all removed.

The green ones are annual cicadas. The black and red ones are periodical cicadas. You all have periodical cicadas, just maybe not in the numbers of other areas because of all the wetlands.

Also, you don't want to eat them if you have a shellfish allergy as they are related to crawfish.
