I got one on I-20 from eyes in the skies back in the 80’s. That’s cheating. Thinking back to that era it made me remember when the majority of the people I knew had radar detectors. Guess those things are obsolete now IDK.

Last time I saw one was around 2010 patrolling over I70 in western Colorado.

It’s only a matter of time before drone fleets serve this purpose.

I think there is a sign on the elevated LA 1 bridge between Leeville and Fourchon. Nice straight bridge.

You really don’t need that much in the form of aerial coverage. A camera at a stationary position at one point that reads your plate. A second camera at point B. If the time to get between the cameras is less than doing the speed limit, you are speeding. That was the idea for the Basin Bridge, but they were going to mail you a ticket instead of stopping you.

They would basically calculate your speed by the amount of time it took you to cross the lines.

Yeah, it's similar to what they used to do at the old SRS bomb plant in South Carolina. They would give you a card at the gate when you entered with the time stamped on it and when you got to the other end you had better be within a certain time window or they'll be wanting to know what the hell you've been doing.

They don't do it anymore, you can just drive through without stopping at a gate at all, or at least on Hwy 125 anyways

Soon, when you speed over the speed limit, your car will just print out a speeding ticket from the dashboard.

They’ll just skip that step and govern all vehicles to not exceed the posted speed limit.

Wow, toilet paper just in case you need it when the Pilot is out and you really have to go.

They catch me all the time but the planes never bother to land when I pull over

Gonna prank my kids good with one of these

Next time I'm on a road trip and see one of these signs I'm gonna act like "crap, I'm busted, okay kids, we're pulling over." And get all my stuff out like I'm expecting a plane to land and give me a ticket.

They are gonna freak out. It will be hilarious

Oh! Even better. I'll change a friends contact to "Aerial Highway Patrol" and get them to send a text saying I've been clocked.

That way I have tangible evidence

I might even ramp it up from there and have them send a text saying they are parachuting in a trooper to write me a ticket.

Oh this is gonna be good

Where are some good routes that have this?

I got a ticket from a Helicopter on HWY 90 on my way to a Saints game about 20-25 years ago.

They time how long it takes you to get from 1 line to the other and figure speed that way. I was single, and making a lot of money at the time so I didn't fight it. Got an article 894*..... had to make a check out DA of St Charles Parish.

But are there any cops, at all, between Mobile and Montgomery on 65? I think I've seen one, who blew past me when I was doing 90, in 25 years. Nobody watching that shite.

Congratulations on your ticket. Better put some cash to the side now. You just jinxed yourself on your next trip

Years back, I got one in Oklahoma on a toll road. When you entered, it time stamped your card (IBM Card). You had to present the card to exit and pay your toll. When the guy popped the card into the machine, it read out my toll for the 70 miles or so I was on the road, and a ticket for speeding.

What a dumbass I was, but I have never speeded on a toll road since.
