NOLA Mardi Gras Experts- Help Me Out A Little

Wife and I were offered Endymion Extravaganza tickets and plan on going. Never been to the Extravaganza. We will be driving back to the Northshore after (have a pregnant DD). My question is about parking.I'm assuming NOLA is an absolute clusterfrick with road closures for parades. I do not know shite about different parades and routes. Will we be able to take Calliope St exit and then park in that big lot at 1300 St.Peters? If not, any better plan? I know I know, I'll probably come back to smashed windows. My original plan was to get to the city early and park at Harrahs but I'm guessing the 8 month pregnant DD will not be able to make it all day and then the extravaganza til 4 am. Thanks for any help.

I dont think you will have to worry about any closures since once the parade makes it back to the Extravaganza its over so everything should be open when you leave.
Edit to say I see you are asking on when you arrive. Disregard the above.
I would say maybe still get there early and find a friends place or someone in your group with a room to go to and hang out then change.

What is an "8 month pregnant DD"?

My advice would be to get a hotel and not deal with traffic.
You never know when police will open roads. Never know when parades run late etc….

You are insane if you don't get a hotel room. Check in early, grab lunch, go back and let her chill before getting dressed and go to the event. Back to the hotel as soon as her feet start hurting or her head turns all the way around.

Yeah but wont it be difficult to get a room for just one night?

I would expect it to be a cluster. You will be able to get off at Tchoup, but that may be the only place. Not sure if you should expect St Charles to be open at the interstate since sometimes they take a while clearing that stretch.
From the Northshore, I would consider Causeway all the way to Claiborne or River Road, then cut through uptown to Tchoup and come up kindof behind everything. Tchoup should be free flowing to the convention center parking.

It's your arse, not mine. Pick up the phone and call some hotels. Or risk riding a couple of hours with a pissed off hormonal pregnant woman. Your call.

I agree but this just came about last night and the cheapest hotel room for 1 night within walking distance of the convention center is $800. I get my truck out the shop today for a new transmission, will decline the tickets before I throw over $1,000 at the Extravaganza

Park your car in Metairie and Uber in. Surge pricing is cheaper than smashed windows.
Why downvotes on this? Parking near the convention center for something like this is going to be a nightmare.

Just park at the dome. It will be easy to get there and get out. Take tulane avenue to Poydras.

You can park at the super dome but it’s a shitshow.

Uber from the north shore. Cheaper than paying for new windows and don’t run the risk of the DD ending the night at like 9 PM.
