I bet you will be flying that LSU flag, wearing an LSU shirt most days and wearing a Mardi Gras shirt on MG day in the other state that doesn’t celebrate MG.

Living in Louisiana/Mississippi is like fricking a chubby chick.

Sure the blowjobs and big tits are great but you always know there are much better options out there.

I moved to the Ozarks in 2018, best decision I've ever made.

Cost of living is fairly cheap, insurance is much cheaper, and I make roughly $50k more than I did before I moved.

Area is MUCH cleaner. Everything looks trashy when I visit home now.

Obviously the food in the South is much better but I don't miss the floods and hurricanes.

The humid summers can kiss my arse too, I'd much rather deal with an occasional snow and get 4 seasons out of the year.

But even with all of that, sometimes you miss the fun you had with that chubby chick...

Wonder what's been different in LA in the last 5 years?

Ultimately, it’s up to the individual, but you can’t bash someone for leaving Louisiana based on frustration with the trajectory of the state. Leaving the state for better job opportunities, public schools, government leadership, etc. is completely valid. Louisiana has some unique characteristics, but are they enough to overcome the shortfalls? Unfortunately, the trend of educated, successful people leaving the state will continue and Louisiana will continue to stay behind the rest of the country. Every major hurricane and flood event pushes more people to make this decision as well.

I’ve thought so many years about leaving, but I think I waited too long. I’m semi retired so could, but the roots are too deep. I’ve got too many social connections in this damn city. Just last weekend me and my wife hung out drinking at a friends place on Friday and we had 2 separate groups over to our place to have beverages sat and Sunday. I just don’t know if I want to start over and be socially isolated. Basically can’t make new old friends. Most people I know who leave the #1 problem is missing your social network.

If you move do it early

I’ve been gone a decade now. I miss my friends and family, and being close to all the fun. We only moved to Gulf Shores so we aren’t that far.

I’ve grown fond of living at the beach. It would take on hell of an opportunity to move back.

Best wishes!
Maybe there will be more room for me because I’d move back to Louisiana in a heartbeat!

Curious to notice that lots of homes are listed for sale in BR and they are normally listed in the $400-700K range. Pretty steep for a city that supposed to go downhill. I mean, real estate in homes there have retained value.

Good homes in NOLA still cost sometimes twice that. It’s definitely down hill. For some reason some people hang on.

Are you insinuating the crime and eduction and future leadership in both of these cities somehow seem to be looking up? Urban areas make no sense. They have horrible services and quality of life issues for the regular day to day stuff yet continue to rise in price. It’s just weird.

I moved away thinking I didn’t want to live in south LA anymore. Quickly realized how great it actually is there, miss it every day and can’t wait to be back permanently.

No, the grass is pretty much always greener.

I've been gone since 2014 and try my hardest to get my family to come to me so I don't have to go back even for a weekend.

Nobody cares you are leaving. Good. Don’t let the door hit you on the arse on the way out.

Mississippi is more fricked up than louisiana, everyone with a degree or a brain in their 20s is moving oos or planning to leave, if you can build a future with nothing but poor illiterate blacks an whites, then Mississippi is for you. But beware they aren’t going to let us keeping stealing all their welfare money anymore and that was one of our fastest growing industries
