This will never happen because the majority of the participating electorate are ill informed , identity politics vote casters. Louisiana would have to purge those voters to accomplish what you suggest.

I'm just waiting for the wife to retire and I'm out of here too. I want to move to a more laid back rural environment and a house that requires way less maintenance than the one I'm currently living in.

I also don't want to be able to hear my neighbors sneeze or fart inside their house with them being so close to me.

I won't miss the street traffic, both foot and vehicle, especially the straight pipe motorcycle riders that find their way to the popular bar 1/2 block from my house.

I interviewed for a back office job at Goldman Sachs in SLC. That would have been interesting

To us, Louisiana is starting to resemble a restaurant that is going downhill fast. Customers won't complain to the owner, they just stop going back...

And like most crappy restaurants, the owner doesn't care.

Idk but Mississippi has experienced 4+% growth the last 5 years
Alabama 3.4%
Arkansas 3.3%
Texas 7%
Louisiana 0.4%

Same, brother. Texas has been wonderful. Pretty good fishing but the saltwater limits suck compared to Louisiana.

The only thing you'll miss is the food
And once you move away, you will be happy to know you know how to cook a lot of the foods you think you miss, either because you watched mama or grandmother do it, or because there are great, real NOLA or just LA based cookbooks.

Well, when you have zero, it ain’t hard to go up. Mississippi has been behind Louisiana for a long time. I have lived in both states.

I'm in East Tennessee and every time I go back home, which is 3-4 times a year to Nola or BR, I am stunned at how terrible it is. It just feels and looks gross. Litter, trashy people, bad infrastructure, etc.

Me too. I left La in 1962, joined service. Left Service in 1969, married a lady from E.T. and settled down. Moved back to Louisiana in 1990. Couldn't believe the the downward spiral, in relation to what I remembered when I left.
Moved back to TN. Ahh life is good.

Sad to see the destruction of civilized society in sections of the country.

Congrats...this place sucks so bad. It's going to take something drastic for my wife to be on board with moving away but hopefully in time once our daughter is in college and after our parents are all deceased she may be more agreeable to the idea. For now, I make due in this cesspool and try my best to enjoy this shite sandwich on focaccia rather than Wonderbread.

Other than Madison, I wouldn't live north of it. You have great communities south, Pearl, Brandon, Richland, Florence etc. Even further, Hattiesburg and the coast is great.

we've debated many times, but my wife's parents are getting old and she doesn't want to leave them. So instead I just bought some acreage in a rural area and will just commute back and forth.

I know I’m in the minority… but I actually like living in Louisiana… I’ve spent significant time in Texas, Georgia, California, Missouri and New York (not the city but Ft. Drum)…Louisiana better to me at least

Every place is bad and every place is good. Depends on what you focus on.
